Meeks Bay is a restful retreat. I doubt you could be any closer to Lake Tahoe.

We stayed in the Kehlet Mansion which was a wonderful experience. Very rustic but lots of fun for friends to enjoy a great week together relaxing, bike riding, hiking and swimming.

We recently stayed at the Kehlet Mansion for 5 nights with my extended family. Our group had 8 adults and 5 kids. We overall had an amazing experience. The site itself is like no other. You are surrounded by beautiful lake tahoe on all sides, as the house is built out on a point. The views are incredible. We made great use of the firepit, dock, and private beach. There is an outdoor shed and mud room that was perfect for storing bikes and paddle boards. The house itself is rustic. With a large group, there were many creaks and squeeks as we all moved around. Something to consider if you are a light sleeper. The beds are small, but most rooms would have enough space for an air mattress if you wanted the house to sleep more people. We were comfortable and happy with our stay. Meeks Bay Management was responsive and helpful with our needs.

Meeks Bay is one of the most serene, beautiful places I have traveled. There is hiking, fishing, swimming or just relaxing. A real treasure.

It was great, just short on toilet paper and no internet.

We had a Family gathering with a wedding reception at the Kehlet Mansion Sept 2023. While the view and being right on the lake was spectacular, the internet was minimal and audio/visual was a struggle. Also, plan on bringing in your own wine glasses (there were 3 glasses) as well as extra plates and glasses etc. Not enough for the amount of the 7 bedrooms the place has. This home is marked as a "historical site" and therefore they are not allowed to do any upgrades. The oven and stove were very old and our caterer had to use the two barbecues provided to do a lot of the cooking for the party. Also, some of the windows don't close or don't have screens and we did have a cute little chipmunk in the house. They really need to upgrade the bathrooms as well; they were very old (but good water pressure). It was clean and the maintenance guy helped us out a lot.
