It was a beautiful drive to the resort. The cabin that I stayed in was pleasant, with an incredible view of the lake from the enclosed porch. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

I don't have anything negative to say, but for the sake of hopefully informing others I'm gonna say all the nice things at the end bc I want anyone renting this place to get all the info I did not get before sinking a small fortune into reservations. The issue I have with this particular cabin (and the 2 just next to it) is with the misleading reservation site: there is NO FIRES, fire ring or grill, and the 2 beds are in the same room. Both are things that are not clear in the post. In fact, the post on rec.gov says FIRES ALLOWED. This is absolutely FALSE. Also, as a father of teenage girls, having the beds in the same room was unfortunate and not clear on the website, but when we asked if I could set up a single person tent in the yard so they could have privacy, they first said yes then they said no. That aside, the staff here are awesome, super friendly, nice and very helpful. Cabin and amenities are nice, right on the beach. Loved our stay here in the end, kids had a blast, somewhat handicap accessible (around the outside of the cabin is but there are stairs to get into the cabin, but once in everything is wheelchair accessible except the bathroom, the doorway is too narrow to fit even a child's wheelchair thru).

The campground was beautiful. The view was amazing and it has its our own private beach.

Campsite next to Highway 1, noisy. Another camper warned me of aggressive bears and I should leave my car unlocked so they can get in without breaking in. I left and rented a motel room. Waste of $80.

Campsites were a spacious and clean. They are also surrounded by lots of trees, which we loved. The site is also right next to the lake with free beach access. Firewood is available onsite for a reasonable price. Bathrooms were reasonably clean, though one lacked a light and another had a door that didn't lock. Our bearbox was also missing the upper latch Overall, we were pleased and would return here in the future.

Space is beautifully maintained. The front desk check-in person couldnt have been friendlier. We would definitely return.

The phone number on the website had a recording that they were closed for the 2022 season - it is 2024 it also said that Recreation.gov was handling the reservations. Recreation.gov said that Meeks Bay Resort was handling reservations. I went to Meeks Bay Resort on my vacation and you could not pay at the resort, it had to be done online. After finally being directed to the correct website I was able to make my reservations. My only complaint is that even with my Senior lifetime pass it still cost me about $140.00 for three nights in a tent site. I love Meeks Bay because it has its own beach a few minutes walk from the campground. Keep an eye out though, I had a couple of visits from a black bear, he wasnt threatening, I just scolded him like I would do my dog and he went to visit a neighbors campsite. He ran off when she yelled at him too. I will probably return next year even with the cost of the campsites.

We have been on a camper van trip from the UK around California. Meeks bay was one of our most disappointing campgrounds. Overall it is attractive and close to the lake. But also close to the road. Not very tranquil. Also it is set up for massive RVs - so if that is what you want then maybe it does the job. But its not quaint and pretty like so many of the sites in the state.

great stay. Horrible website. Spaces empty all weekend and showed full.

My brother, a friend and I all went and it was a beautiful campsite. The process of registration was easy and gave so much information that it was easy to pick a site.

I would trust the other reviews. Most of my 1 star is based on the treatment by the hosts and those living on property. Pros: The facility was fine, close to the lake with access, showers were warm and available, bathrooms clean. Did not personally see a bear but a neighbor mentioned it once during my stay. Cons: having one of the hosts start cussing at you while you drive because he didnt see you and walked into an incoming car, not being able to find a host to check in for 20 minutes after arrival, campsites are very close together with little option to place a tent. Low cell reception except by lake Road noise is a little loud around 6am but is expected due to proximity of campsite. Overall I would choose a different campground next time that is not run by an apparent family.

Too pricey for overflowing portapotties, and dirty bathrooms with no paper towels or toilet paper.
@TracyC8170684 · Camped on Sep 20, 2024 at Campsite #S39
Beautiful beach, but they charge $55/night and don't clean or stock the bathrooms. Place has gone downhill.

This was our second year there. The prices went up, and the services went down. The bathrooms were not cleaned or stocked. And they don't allow dogs-which is fine, but it helps with the bear problem if there ARE dogs to guard our things.

Our cabins sat almost right on the beach. The staff at Meeks Bay is awesome and helped us with everything we needed especially Jeanne, what an exceptional manager. Thank you for a stay at one of Tahoes best kept secrets. It was fabulous.

Instead of at most 6 people on the neighboring site, we got about 12 noisy people. They set up 3 big tents just a few yards from our tent. Alcohol, music, and screaming children during quiet hours. It was very disturbing. No attendants checked this loop in the evening and during quiet time.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
