For $40 they dont even provide a smooth level pad to pitch your tent on.Surely thats the most basic thing one would expect - a level piece of ground! Also, the booking system is dysfunctional. You have to book months in advance and once you arrive a quarter to 1/3 of the sites are empty with no-shows. There must be a better way to make sure that all sites are available!

This was my first time camping in Point Reyes National Seashore and it was very peaceful. The walk in to Sky campground is beautiful, with views to the east and west. I found the campsite to be clean and well maintained, including the restrooms and fresh water supply, food box and picnic table. There were several adjacent spaces occupied when I arrived. Nevertheless it was silent overnight, and the low clouds cleared so the stars were visible. A deer crossed my path at night as I walked to the restroom. I will definitely be returning to camp there again.

The campsites are a challenge to reserve, but I think I see why people return over the years. Lots of native plants were along the trails, with some invasive exceptions. The mature trees condense the fog and rain it down onto plants and tents below. Pretty classic coastal landscape comes unadorned with houses or other heavy infrastructure.

Our time at Sky Camp was so magical. The hike to the campground is uphill the whole way. The trail is very wide and we even saw a few people wheeling carts (didn't look super easy but it can be done!). The campground has such a great view. We hiked down to the Coast Camp area and back up, which was beautiful the whole way! The hike back up to camp was steep so be aware of that! Overall, we cannot wait to go back!

Beautiful park, and great scenery. There was a variety of trails, but almost all the internal ones were overgrown pretty badly. Coastal trail is in better condition. Sky camp was gorgeous watching the clouds cover the treetops below you. Def coming again

About 1.5 miles hike in, some incline.

This place is a gem. The views alone are well worth the effort. Sites 11 and 12 are probably the best for scenery and privacy.

One of our Best backpacking experience to Sky Camp. Watching the sunset from our site table was phenomenal. I find this campsite our favorite.!!

Stayed 2 nights at Sky Camp, then 2 nights at Coast Camp. Sky Camp is newly reopened after a lot of post-Woodward Fire work removing dangerous burned trees that might otherwise fall over on campsites. Still a few tall unburned Doug fir trees scattered about, but the view is very opened up now with much fewer trees. The campground is actually nicer to camp in with great views, but it's sad that so much of Mt. Wittenberg burned. A huge area burned completely all the way from the ocean bluffs up to the crest. Down along the coast trail from Sculptured Beach southward almost to the Bear Valley trail, the previous coyote brush is now just tall, black skeleton-like graceful arms reaching up above a solid new green thicket of dense lupine bushes. That huge expanse of bush lupine should all be blooming soon, it'll be a dramatic contrast to the burnt coyote brush. In the night at Sky Camp a racoon knocked my empty backpack off the picnic table bench, and tore off the plastic garbage bag it was in (for overnight dew protection). Had to be a racoon, because it UNZIPPED both tall side zippers on the two long vertical pockets of my pack. Top was open already. Grateful the raccoon unzipped rather than choosing to tear the pockets open! One pocket had an empty food wrapper inside it so maybe the raccoon smelled that. I won't leave my pack out anymore, even empty! All food was safely in the raccoon locker, and even encased in a rodent-proof metal mesh bag as we have had problems in the past with mice getting into the lockers. No sign of mice this time.

Spacious enough for two tents in well cleared areas (space #8) but not all sites were as large Clean pit toilets with toilet paperSite #8 has a great climbing tree for kids and private site with bushes Lots of fog and cool breezes - bring appropriate clothing We heard a lot of critters in the bushes at night -during the day we saw bunnies, birds, deer, signs of gophersOur neighbors were loud but not too lateAll campers and day hikers were respectful and used masks (7/2020) We enjoyed the 8 mile out and back walk to the beach with our family but honestly seemed a bit too much for our 7 year old (suggest to being motivated 11 - 12 year olds and up).

Sky camp is beautiful and I happened to hit an especially nice stretch of weather. Camped under the stars each night. Yum.
