I took a cancelled spot at wildcat campground in April rainy weekend. It was beautiful and rewarding with fresh air and quiet trail. However the costal trail status was very wild. Grasses grown over waist, and trail was not visible because of over grown wild grass for about 2 miles length. I had gaiters over my boots and that helped though still worried for any slithering creatures under grass.Trail from bear valley is remmended.

If you are hiking from the Palomarin Trailhead, there is only one road in, but it can be a bit confusing. You will pass several parking lots along the waydont get distracted by the visitor center, ranger station, or the various vista point lots.Just keep driving even when the road turns to gravel/unpaved. Follow it all the way to the very end. Youll find a much larger parking lot and a clearly marked sign for the trailhead. If you are planning an overnight trip, that is the correct place to park!

Have backpacked to wildcat many times. Each time I go there's vacancies at the campground when online shows everything is booked up.Such a shame that there are no consequences for people who are no-shows and don't cancel their reservation.

Great location, clean toilet facilities, decent primitive campsite. If you want to hike to Alamere Falls, be sure to do it at low tide. It can't be reached at high, or mid tide.

One of the best sites Ive ever been to! Only issue was that a critter got into the bear box and eat a hole in my brand new bowl! Luckily I saw that they are replacing the boxes soon. We lucked out with the weather as it was sunny and no wind, but be sure to pack an extra layer or have a blanket for hanging outside at night. Our weather situation was not the norm for the Point Reyes Coast!

Mice got into our food in the boxes but other than that amazing. It looked like they were replacing the boxes last time I was out there. Such a great hike and epic location. Water and bathrooms at the campsite. You can have a fire on the beach if you get a permit. So many tule elk and flowers and birds. Magical experience!

FYI wildcat site #4 had 2 mice hidden in the bear locker in top where the metal curves. Do NOT leave items in this locker, use another locker or bring your own bear canister. Other than that, beautiful site and excellent trip. If going to Alamere falls, I recommend going along the beach but check the tide chart because that route can be inaccessible at high tide. It's a much shorter hike along the beach and the falls are more impressive from that view.

Get rid of the neon orange cones. People can find the sites without them and they detract from the natural scenery.

Beautiful spot! Herd of Thule elk bed down here regularly. If you plan to hike to alamere falls make sure you look up the tide charts ahead of time as you need low tide to get all the way there and there is no cell service. Lake loop trail is extremely overgrown, if youre sensitive to poison oak Id skip it and stick to coast trail. I was very careful and still managed to come home with a rash. Also, the food storage boxes are old, havent been replaced like those at sky and coast (hopefully soon?) so expect mice who will chew into your food overnight. Site 4 has a particularly bad box, I asked a favor of site 8 neighbors, immediately adjacent, and kept my food in that box which survived the night. Other campers suggested keeping the food in a pot with a lid, and putting a heavy rock on the lid, all inside the critter box. Site 4 box literally has a mouse nest inside, along with mouse droppings. These really need immediate replacement.

Great trip. I started from 5 brooks trailhead and it takes about 3 hrs to get to Wildcat. Saw the elk and deer and lots of lupine and other wildflowers. Day trip to Bass Lake and Allemere Falls was nice. The side trail down to Allemere seems a bit sketchy so we walked the beach route from Wildcat.

Wildcat campground is amazing, very close to the sea. First part of Coast trail from Wildcat into direction of Coast campground is amazing.

We had a wonderful time at Wildcat and Glen Camp. The restrooms were super clean. The sites were clean and we were especially impressed by the new bear lockers and tables at Glen Camp. Hiking was exceptional as always. We loved the Ridge Trail. We just wished it would end at the parking lot at Palomarin and not a mile away from it on the dirt road.

Great place for an overnight backpacking trip with the kids. Would have been perfect had it not been for the crazy horse riders that almost ran us over on Greenpicker trail on the hike in. We had to jump into the bushes to get out of the way. As the lady trotted by she said that her horse thinks backpackers are the boogie monster! The kids got a little scared because she could not control her spooked horse.

1. As a senior on a fixed income, I really cannot afford your price point of $ 30 per night. Please consider a discount for seniors.2. Also consider a rebate of X dollars if people actually show up...say $ 10 off; your volunteer ranger who was at Wildcat can easily check and make records.3. Also consider an extra fee...say $ 10 for a "no show" without a medical excuse.4. Your Point Reyes National Seashore Web site is EXTREMELY POORLY designed. You will need to Beta Test any future enhancements with seniors (such as myself) who are not quite as savvy as the younger generation.

Wildcat site #4 was beautiful and I would return in the future. The beach was great for a relaxing afternoon. We saw plenty of wildlife.
