One of the best sites Ive ever been to! Only issue was that a critter got into the bear box and eat a hole in my brand new bowl! Luckily I saw that they are replacing the boxes soon. We lucked out with the weather as it was sunny and no wind, but be sure to pack an extra layer or have a blanket for hanging outside at night. Our weather situation was not the norm for the Point Reyes Coast!

Mice got into our food in the boxes but other than that amazing. It looked like they were replacing the boxes last time I was out there. Such a great hike and epic location. Water and bathrooms at the campsite. You can have a fire on the beach if you get a permit. So many tule elk and flowers and birds. Magical experience!

FYI wildcat site #4 had 2 mice hidden in the bear locker in top where the metal curves. Do NOT leave items in this locker, use another locker or bring your own bear canister. Other than that, beautiful site and excellent trip. If going to Alamere falls, I recommend going along the beach but check the tide chart because that route can be inaccessible at high tide. It's a much shorter hike along the beach and the falls are more impressive from that view.

Get rid of the neon orange cones. People can find the sites without them and they detract from the natural scenery.

So beautiful! And trails and sites are very well maintained.

Beautiful spot! Herd of Thule elk bed down here regularly. If you plan to hike to alamere falls make sure you look up the tide charts ahead of time as you need low tide to get all the way there and there is no cell service. Lake loop trail is extremely overgrown, if youre sensitive to poison oak Id skip it and stick to coast trail. I was very careful and still managed to come home with a rash. Also, the food storage boxes are old, havent been replaced like those at sky and coast (hopefully soon?) so expect mice who will chew into your food overnight. Site 4 has a particularly bad box, I asked a favor of site 8 neighbors, immediately adjacent, and kept my food in that box which survived the night. Other campers suggested keeping the food in a pot with a lid, and putting a heavy rock on the lid, all inside the critter box. Site 4 box literally has a mouse nest inside, along with mouse droppings. These really need immediate replacement.

Great trip. I started from 5 brooks trailhead and it takes about 3 hrs to get to Wildcat. Saw the elk and deer and lots of lupine and other wildflowers. Day trip to Bass Lake and Allemere Falls was nice. The side trail down to Allemere seems a bit sketchy so we walked the beach route from Wildcat.

Wildcat site #4 was beautiful and I would return in the future. The beach was great for a relaxing afternoon. We saw plenty of wildlife.

The park is just pristine, and all of the information I received prior to my trip was thorough, easily accessed, and useful.

We made the mistake of biking over to Wildcat from Five Brooks. Not only did we bike but we rode a tandem pulling a trailer. We ended up pushing the bike and trailer up to the summit (Fir Top) in both directions. Coming down was fun but not worth the effort pushing it up.

IF - and that's a big if, we try that again, I think we'll just backpack in like normal people. There's something about hiking where you can let slow down and observe things.

Wildcat Campground was nice though some of the sites weren't numbered. Some sites appeared to have been made by splitting up one site into two. The vault style restrooms were very clean
