I love Point Reyes. I love Wildcat camp. I booked site 6 which is a little difficult to find because the number is not that visible but no big deal. I did my first solo backpacking adventure here as a woman and I felt safe. I cant wait to go back to see the elk and to see and hear the coyotes, and all the coastal birds.

The hike to Wildcat beach is definitely a journey to enjoy and experience, and arriving at Wildcat Beach is the ultimate reward. Ensure you bring sufficient water for your hike. Wildcat campground and beach are pristine and hope that everyone who enjoys Wildcat Beach and Campground keep it that way.

Awesome campsite, this one is the closest to the ocean. All you hear is the ocean and the wind it's beautiful. Beware that all morning you'll be inside dense fog so everything gets wet

Incredible campsite! Easy hike out/back from Palomarin Trailhead; mostly wide path with a small overgrown section of single track. Campsite is also next to beach access, making it incredibly easy to hike out -> drop bags and set up camp -> head to falls along the beach without the extra weight.

The visitor center staff were friendly and helpful. I always check-in to see if there are any trail conditions I need to know about. The trails and campsite were well maintained. This is a heavily used campground and it looked well cared for. Though signage for the specific campsites was hard to find. Alamere Falls is a short beach hike from the Wildcat camp. But make sure to check on the tides as you cannot get there at high tide.

Camp 6 was amazing, there is a little trail to your own private hill where you can view the beach and sunset. Most private campsite as well, you can't see into it from any direction.

Great campsites. The water at wildcat camp tasted terrible. Heavily treated. Maybe that is necessary but it definitely did not taste good.

I had a wonderful experience at Wildcat Campground, a magical place. Stunning views of the rugged cliffs, amazing sunset, and even a whale sighting in the morning. Highly recommended. Point Reyes is a national treasure.

Great misty couple of days at Wildcat. Even filmed a juvenile bobcat successfully hunting a mole. Potable water was tasty, garbage and recycling bins tidy and bathrooms well maintained. Thanks NFS!

The campground is great! I'd previously hiked past it and thought it lacked privacy and must be windy, but neither of these things was remotely true. The grasses are tall enough such that each campsite is secluded and protected from the coastal winds. My only complaint is minor: The sign pointing to campsite #6 was out of place and therefore caused some confusion. Otherwise, the bathroom was remarkably clean and, despite warnings of ticks, I didn't see any.

This was my inaugural backpack trip after a nearly 3 decade hiatus. The Stewart trail from Five Brooks trailhead to Wildcat campground was pretty, but it was a dirt road and the Greenpicker trail I took back after a detour to Glen campground was prettier though overgrown with vegetation. The camping facilities at Wildcat wee great with privacy, potable water, nearby beach and pit toilets. I also loved my extra day hikes to Alamere Falls along the beach and then to the upper falls via the Ocean Lake Loop. The hiking in and out would have been more enjoyable if I left earlier both days so it wouldnt have been so hot.

Great campsite at Wildcat. Some trails in serious need of trail maintenance due to overgrowth. I know they have been dealing with alot of havoc from the Woodward fire and then the heavy rains last year felling many trees. I am very sensitive to poison oak and the trails are really overgrown to the point you cant avoid touching it. I feel bad for any kids hiking through it. I came prepared with alcohol wipes and used them to wipe down any exposed areas and my hiking poles.

Ive been backpacking at Point Reyes for over a decade and its always a new experience when visiting. This is the first time Ive gone backpacking with my two daughters and we had a blast! Although the conditions were a bit wet, Wildcat Camp was still amazing. We were fortunate to arrive at camp at the same time as three Tule Elk. Because of the rains, Alamere Falls and the pools above it were amazing and the trails were filled with all sorts of critters and mushrooms. Definitely a trip to remember with my girls. We cant wait to visit again in the summer.

From Bear Valley visitor center it's about a 6 mile hike into Wildcat camp. The hike is not too strenuous, however there is some up and downhill, and there is a long (~1m) and somewhat steep descent into the campground (that you will go up on your way out). The campground is simple and beautiful. Each site has a picnic table and food locker. There is a water spigot near the pit toilets. From the campground there is easy access to the beach, and ~1m walk to Alamere falls. Elk can be seen wandering in and near the campground, though they don't like to have their picture taken. Sunsets are amazing. Be prepared for cold and wet conditions in the evening. I've been to Wildcat camp twice (both times in Dec) - once was super windy and we saw a fox poop on our picnic table, the other time was wet from the marine layer, but somehow had a clear night, with spectacular stars and Milkyway viewing. There are a lot of little birds that will try to steal your snacks if you are not careful.

Love this park. Perfect for anyone in the Bay Area who wants to get a quick night out in nature. Also perfect for first time backpacking trips because of easy trails, beautiful campsites, and bathrooms. Cant recommend Point Reyes enough

Easy rolling hills hike with gorgeous views. The campground is perfectly located, camps sites are clean and well maintained. Elk were at the campsite bugling and waves crashing, it was amazing! My husband and I are from MT, we backpack and hike all the time. This trip was wonderful but with that being said I have to point out one thing we have never seen before on any trail. Toilet paper. About ever 3 min on the hike you will pass a pile of toilet paper, it seems people here use the bathroom frequently and dont pack it out. It was shocking. I counted 53 piles of toilet paper on the way out. I have never experienced this before. In MT we "pack in it pack it out" and "leave no trace" it was disappointing to see this and as amazing as this trip was, I do not think we will go back for the sole reason of toilet paper everywhere, made my heart hurt.

I made reservations for site #6 at Wildcat Camp two weeks in advance of my hiking date. This was using the new reservation protocols through Recreation.gov which has some sites available three months in advance, some sites two weeks in advance, and so on. I have never camped at site 6 before and so glad I was able to secure this site. Printing the confirmation for the permit is a great improvement. The site is up near the bluff with picnic table, charcoal grill, food storage locker with internal shelf, and room for probably two 2-3 person tents. But the site is probably best for four people max as it has a smaller picnic table. It had amazing views up and down the coast. It is illegal to place tents on the bluff, tents must stay in campsite. The pit toilets were clean and well stocked. The potable water spigot was functioning just fine. We brought a water jug to have back at our campsite for washing hands, face, and brushing teeth. Less trips to the water spigot. After setting up camp we checked out the beach and relaxed. The next day we hiked a loop trail up Stewart Trail to Fir Top then wound our way around to Lake Ranch Trail. We stopped at Bass Lake (swimmable in warm weather) for lunch and then headed back to Wildcat via the Ocean Lake Trail. It was about 10 miles round trip. In years past we have left the main trail and taken the spur trail to Alamere Falls, climbing town the eroded chute to the beach. However this year the creek was flowing high and we skipped this part. It was confirmed later with other hikers the creek was high and crossing it was sketchy since it flows quickly over the falls. Our last day we headed back out the way we came in Via approx. 6 mile Stewart/Glen/Bear Valley Trail. In years past we have taken the Stewart/Coast/Bear Valley trail on the way out which adds about another mile. All in all a great campsite and experience.
