Had an incredible experience here. There was a herd of elk right by the camp, and my site had a front row view of them all. I did not expect them, but I'm sure we were super lucky for their visit. The site was green and will maintained. There's also a path to the cliffs along the beach where you can catch the sunset.

Great experience! I have been backpacking and camping at Point Reyes for 50 years and it never gets old.

Wildcat camp is wonderful. Pretty clean overall, given the huge demand and large number of people using these sites (Kudos to the service staff!). A few wild campers. I have mixed feelings about them. They put demands on the limited services without contributing. But I understand the frustration with having to book it months in advance. But for those who play by the rules, it's a little disheartening.

Wildcat is one of the best campgrounds at Point Reyes. It's a great introduction to backpacking as the campsite has potable water, pit toilets, trash bins, and bear boxes. It's right on the beach, has beautiful views, and is less than a 1.5 mile walk on the beach to Alamere Falls. Make sure to check the tide charts when visiting the falls - we went when the tide was a little high and would recommend waiting until it is 1 ft or less, ideally 0 ft or less. The hike up from Palomarin is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Pleasant hike-in campground with nice amenities (potable water, trash disposal, bear lockers, restrooms) right near Alamere Falls and chances to see plenty of wildlife like elk and beach borbs. Site 05 is decently private and closest to a nice viewpoint a short walk away. Started from Palomarin trail which is busier with day hikers but in decent condition. Seems like the Ocean Lake loop section near the camp was recently maintained but overall no severe overgrowth like the nearby Coast trail near Stewart trail the last time I visited the Alamere

Point Reyes backpacking is glamping at its finest! The 4 campgrounds need to be reserved in advance and come equipped with tables, "bear boxes", pit toilets, potable water, garbage and recycling. However, don't under-estimate the effort it takes to walk the miles and go up and down in elevation. You can also bike in to these campgrounds on specific roads. The views are stupendous, the flora and fauna are so abundant that you can't quite understand what you see in one day. If you stay at Coast Camp or Wildcat camp, you have a private beach. The downsides are Poison Oak, Stinging Nettles and ticks. Because of budget cuts, the lesser trails are overgrown and sometimes you can't avoid the plants hanging over the trails. Overall, an experience that should be on your bucket list.

Absolutely stunning campground. We had site 5, which was nice and private. We saw all kinds of wildlife including elk and coyotes and wildflowers were blooming. Worth the early wakeup to hike down to Alamere falls at low tide. It was pretty windy, which might be a problem for some camp stoves. The campground was quite luxurious with vault toilets, potable water, trash disposal, bear boxes, and picnic tables very pleasant 1 night backpacking trip!

Easy to get the permit, rules are well-posted and not extraordinary. We saw a volunteer and a ranger checking permits on the trail. Good encounter. We saw a restroom/trash service worker both days we were at Wildcat. Restrooms were clean, lots of toilet paper.

Great views, short trip to Allamere falls. Was lucky enough to see one coyote and ten Tule Elk passing through camp during the two days I was there. Clean toilet, running water, garbage pickup, picnic table, food storage locker -- really nice facilities for backpacking!

Wildcat has many sites spread across the top of a cliff overhanging a sandy beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean. There are vault toilets, running water, and plenty of space between sites with some low growing bushes for a medium sense of privacy. The ocean waves are very mild background noise due to the cliff deflecting the roar significantly. I saw sea otters down the beach among the kelp. There are some rock formations along the beach for exploring. Never turn your back to the sea. If you get caught in a sneaker wave, don't try and move your limbs out from the sand, but try and anchor yourself until the wave washes back out to the ocean, then make a dash for higher ground. The waves can get massive and come up to the foot of the cliffs so I'd advise observing the surf when atop the cliff before taking the trail down to the beach.

Wildcat is always a favorite. The trail from Palomarin is great yet still a bit overgrown the last mile. Havent taken the coastal view loop into wildcat from Palomarin because in June it was impassible - waiting to see a trail report on that section. The new animal boxes at the campsites are great. Glad to see them installed. Point Reyes is a jewel

Great location. Picnic table, restrooms, and bear box were all excellent shape and clean. Also, campsites spread sufficiently for privacy and to enjoy a wilderness experience.

Excellent overnight at Wildcat Camp, as always. Good facilities, with amenities: picnic table, potable water, and a toilet. Plus early morning access to Alamere Falls, and a small local band of Tule Elk. What's not to like?

I love Wildcat, it's probably my favorite camp, I was in camp 5, I think one of the nicest. Hiked in from Limantour and back, the coast was incredible.

Not a real backpacking experience. Campsites are close together, exposed. Feels like car camping.

Great campground a short walk to the beach. Extremely windy, especially at the front camp sites, which makes it difficult to set up camp. Amenities (water, restrooms, trash cans) were reasonably close and the bear locker came in handy. Some ground has prickly, thorny weeds which makes tent location a careful consideration, but the ground is reasonably soft/firm. Great view of the whole site if you hike up the hill toward coast camp a little ways.

Really enjoyed our night here! Beautiful hike and sunset. The forecast said it was going to be really windy, but it was not bad at all once the sun went down!

Another great experience at Wildcat Campground. I have been coming here for almost 30 years. My favorite activity is hiking down the beach to Alamere Falls. Sitting on the bluff and watching the sun set is also pretty awesome.

Beautiful as always! Noted on this trip there is always a bit of wind. On a Bluff, at the Beach tis to be expected. It ebbs and flows thru thru the day and evening. My wind shelter was helpful.
