Due to confusion about permits, Tomales Beach boat-in was pretty crowded. Maybe 40 people camping. Still beautiful.

How lucky are we that we have this incredible place to camp! The early afternoon paddle to the sites was blissful, and waking up in the beach in the fog is so calming.

This experience is great! We pulled up with the kayaks on the beach. We had a picnic table, could make a fire, it was great! Watch out for the tide.

We never got to the camp site because the wind was too strong on Tomales Bay. We attempted to sail north from Chicken Ranch beach to Long Cove and camp there. We paddled like crazy into the window around 2PM and pulled into the first beach after almost 2 hours of paddling. That was Shell beach, about 1/7th of the way to our destination. If we had tried to get to Long Cove, it would have taken another 10+ hours to get there and killed us. We turned around and sailed downwind in a fraction of the time and got a hotel instead. The next morning we decided to try kayaking again, and set off from Miller Boat Launch at about 9AM in the morning, and it was super smooth sailing across the bay to White Gulch. It took about 2 hours to roundtrip, and we weren't going all that fast.Be sure to leave as early as you can in the morning! We never got to enjoy our campsite or see the bioluminescent algae!

Awesome trip. It's definitely worth coming at the end of summer to see the bioluminescence.

Very clean beach. Be ready for the overnight ocean spray, though!

We did boat-in kayak camping on Tomales Bay in Pt. Reyes National Seashore. We stayed on Marshall Beach which has a pit toilet. It's a gorgeous spot, a significant but not unreasonable paddle from Inverness, and a great way to disconnect from the world. One of my favorite trips.

The beach we camped on did not have a toilet. It was evident that some previous campers did not bring their own facilities as there was toilet paper and fecal matter in the plants. Additionally, there was a fair amount of garbage on the beach from previous campers. The garbage attracted a large group of aggressive raccoons to our campsite. While the scenery was beautiful, I wouldnt camp here again.
