Bathrooms were great, each campsite is super private with little hedges splitting them up, the beach is easy access and we had dinner there. Theres clean running water. My first backpacking trip ever and definitely a great starter trip.

Site was clean, spaced out from other spots, only issue was the ground was very hard and bent my stakes (I assume after a few rainfalls it would be perfect), and the distance to the latrine from spots 4-7 is a bit farther than I would like at night

Great trip but be careful of the overgrown trails!

Some of the less traveled trails are quite overgrown as of April 2024. While my partner and I never lost the trail, there were times when it became questionable. Also lots of downed trees, currently.

Site 4, like other reviews have said, is fully visible from the passing trail way. I pitched my single person tent behind the picnic table to get some privacy. The space for tents is situated on a slanted elevation, so I don't think water would pool up there too bad at all. It did rain on the morning of departure and my footprint collected some water on the flat spot by the table. As far as food storage goes, the bear bin is brand new! The trash collection was halted due to the truck being in maintenance so it was a pack-in pack-out situation. The trash receptacles are permanent fixtures with bear-proof lids w/ separate chutes for recycle and whatnot. Potable water spigots are at sites 8 and near the dual outhouse between sites 9 & 12.Great Campground! Caught some fish :) (be careful, the surf can get rough and pull a person out here)

The camp is quite open (people can see the entire setup when they walk by) but not many people walk by, nice and quiet. Water and bathrooms are a short walk, but the other camps (1, 2, 3) are a bit closer if that is a concern. Pretty small area to set up camp, just fit two tents (2P and 3P). Small dips collect water when rain happens, and table area not well shaded from the wind (can't speak for other camps). Still a very fun and cute site!

Point Reyes National Seashore is amazing! The trails were well maintained and each one was beautiful. There was varied terrain as we hiked from the visitor's center to Coast campsite, then Coast to Wildcat and then back to Bear Valley Visitors Center on the third day. The campgrounds were well maintained and the food caches were great to have right at the campsite. The rangers at Bear Valley Visitors Center were helpful, friendly and gave us excellent advice. Overall a fantastic experience! We will be back soon!

Backpacked trailhead to Coast then hiked over to Wildcat, then out. Trail from Coast to Wildcat is longer than map says by ~15-20%, so beware.Otherwise, super great and fun trip. Fresh water at every campground, as well as sit-down pit toilets, trash cans, and bear boxes at every site. Luxury backpacking! Note, not much fresh water access between campgrounds - leave your water pumps and iodine pills at home, but bring extra water containers for the hikes.

Well kept. Nice to have a bear box, toilet, and water when you get to camp. This is my favorite place to go

Was a very easy hike. And the camp spot was amazing. We had lots of space and good privacy. It's a good beginners backpacking trip.

Coast camp is always a gem, such a beautiful place and a reasonable hike to get there. We were in site 5, which had a nice area around the picnic table and food locker, and a separate flat area for the tent. It was a short walk to the trash/water/bathrooms. Very clean and peaceful!

Had a very nice trip to Coast Camp. Stayed at campsite #4. If you book #4 it only has space for two tents. It worked for us since there was only two of us staying there. The new raccoon boxes are better than the old ones which were not rodent proof. Take a short side trip to the volcanic outcropping south of camp off the Coast Trail. Awesome views from up there.

This is such a wonderful place to spend the night. The starts were out and no fog, so it was a gorgeous (but cold) night of camping.I was surprised how much the recent rains had modified the beach near the campground. But that's Mother Nature at work, and it's fun to watch how she changes things around right before our very eyes.

Great location with beach access and an easy walk down the shore to the tide pools. No light pollution allowed for an amazing view of the stars.

Great campground with okay facilities, natural meditation music from the ocean and birds, lots of wildlife activities (in a good way), enough privacy, and easy access to the beach and hiking trails! The early morning walk on the beach is definitely a highlight, so don't miss it if you camp here.

Gentle walk in, pit toilets as clean as can be expected. Water easy to access. Beach is beautiful, but sites are sheltered from much wind. Did have gophers in our site/tent pad which made for some entertainment.

Great for family backpacking. Took my 5 yr old and he did great. He got a little tired on way back but that was after playing on the beach all morning. Did the trail clockwise from the Laguna trailhead. Camped in site 4 but think I'll try the lower spots when I go again.

A real gem without leaving the Bay Area. Beautiful beaches, well-maintained trails, starry night skies, wildlife. So nice to get away without going too far.

Nice campsite with clean bathroom and easy access to water. Great access to beaches! The only downside was that there were a lot of flies—especially at the campsite itself, but also some at the beach. Not sure if this is a year-round phenomenon or if it varies with the seasons. We were here in October.
