I have backpacked in 11 National Parks, 10 National Forests, and 2 National Monuments. This was my first National Seashore. It was a singular and memorable experience. Of the 106 previous backpacking trips, I only awarded five stars (the maximum on my personal rating scale) to 14. This trip makes 15. Weather was near perfect with no rain. Wildcat and Glen campground facilities were exceptional. Having vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, sufficient clearings for tents are not typical of camping in the wilderness, but we certainly appreciated them. Trails were well-maintained and easy to follow with great signage. The flowers were gorgeous. Animals in the air, on the ground, and in the ocean were everywhere we looked, and up close. Humans were a curiosity to them, not a threat. We took lots of photos of Alamere Falls (accessed via Wildcat Beach) and the three unnamed upper falls (accessed via path from Coastal Trai). Viewing the remnants of Arch Rock was more fascinating than I expected and worth the five-mile loop hike from Glen Campground. The deep green landscape reminded me of my vacation in Ireland two years ago.

Stayed in site 7, it is a beautiful site up on the bluff. New tables and bear boxes are so nice! Access to the beach is a bit of a scramble when we were there, looks like there was a bit of rock slide/errosion.

Beautiful location, quiet campsite, fabulous beach, great hiking on Coast Trail, Woodward Valley, Rift Zone and Greenpicker

In late April 2024 after setting up camp at Wildcat Campground, having hiked in from the Palomarin TH, day-hiked down the beach 1 mile to the beautiful Alamere Falls, visited, and back. Hiked down during the remaining ebb tide and back during the early flood tide, with the low tide in between. Consulted tide charts before the backpack trip to schedule my day hike timing.

With a moderate hike in to get to the campground, the location is just off the beach. Just a mile or so south you can visit the falls. Tent spots are spread apart of privacy and the site was quite on my visit.

Enjoyed Wildcat beach for the first time. Very clear area, and the sound of the ocean was nice.

Check the tides carefully to make it out to Alamere Falls. Well worth it.

The majority of the ground is hard to get tent stakes in, and when you do find relatively "flat ground" it will be sloped. Because of this, the floor of my tent was pitched unevenly. You can hardly see the ocean from this site, but it is the closest to Wildcat Beach. It is, for the most part, private. You'll be able to see Sites #1/2/3 from this site. You can also hike about 1 mile to Alamere Falls. Just check the tide predictions and take note of the high and low tides. Two bathrooms and potable water are available.

Beautiful location, nice private site with coyote song and Elk viewing every morning. Easy walk during low tide to Alamere. No issues with rodents in the critter box, but I do use a "rat sack". Water and pit toilet was nice to have. Wish people would close the darn lid on toilets. It helps them vent properly and be less smelly ??

My experience on these trails was amazing. Had a great little 4-day backpacking trip with my cousin and nephews. Some of the trails were a bit outgrown but totally understandable due to all the rain we got. Great campsites. We made awesome memories. Thank you.

This site has a great peek-a-boo view of the ocean. However, it has a very rocky and somewhat sloped tent site. I use a hiking pole tent and was unable to find a suitable way to anchor my tent - and keep in mind that Point Reyes is often windy. I ended up having to pitch my tent along the path leading up to the site. I mention this in case you don't have a free-standing tent either.

Otherwise, it is a splendid place to spend the night and to listen to the surf!

This place is a little piece of paradise for backpackers. It’s got beach and woods within walking distance of each other. And the Falls did not disappoint. Well maintained by the park service.

Even better than Coastal Site

The camp site is beautifully located and is one of my favorite backpacking spots in the country. The bathroom is extremely well maintained and potable water on site makes it very convenient. Alamere falls is about a 2 mile roundtrip away but I would be mindful of tide times.

My two gripes are: 1) our specific camp site (site 7), though the location is excellent, had some maintenance issues. The picnic table was in shambles with the bench and planks on the table not fully bolted and the food storage door was hanging on by a hinge. All the other sites seemed fine though. 2) There's a lot of poison oak on some of the trails. Totally understand you can't get rid of all of it but some of it hung into the trails and was stressful for a member in our party who is extremely allergic.

Overall though, the campground is awesome!

We camped at wildcat campground and only 1mile away from the Alamere falls if you take the beach trail. Make sure bring gloves to climb up to the top. I dropped my iPhone 12 Pro on the way back to my tent on the beach, the tide was very high and took my phone away. So stay away from the water, secure your phone

Table at Campsite #7 was falling apart. It needs to be replaced!
Bear Box at Camp site 7 has a broken hinge and is rusted, the door almost fell off, Please replace it.
Have you ever maintained this campsite? Please Camp there your self and see what it is like. I have never seen a ranger out there to complain to, Why is that?
For all the money that goes into these camp sites you think they would be better equipped and maintained.

We were blessed with a sighting of a pod Orca hunting at sunset right off the beach at Wildcat! Had an excellent stay, appreciated he clean outhouse and running water.

On the down side was our stay at Glen. I really wish people were more courteous and used inside voices at campgrounds.
thanks for what you do

Wildcat was an amazing stay; just off the beach, plenty of room for privacy from other campers. Make your dinner and watch the sun set over the ocean.

Amazing campsite! So glad we were able to spend a night there. Hike out is not too bad and the views along the way are stunning.
