The Pt Reyes Rangers keep the campsites and outhouses impeccable, thru sun or storms. I love them so much.the only thing that bugs me is dogs being snuck on the trail.

Good weather for January but got cold at night. Bathroom and potable water a plus. There are miles of beach to explore. Did some day hiking and watched the sunset before lighting our beach fire. Awesome place.

Good amenities, the beach is right there, and lots of cool hiking around.

We brought our Adventure Crew tweens out for a 4 day, 3 night backpack trip in June. Sky group camp is more exposed since the fire took down the shade trees; I'd recommend bringing something to create shade. It is still the best option for a first night/easy hike in from Sky Trailhead. We had a layover day at Santa Maria beach where the kids flew kites and played lots of rounds of Banana Tag. We also spent 2 nights at Coast. The trails at Point Reyes are severely overgrown with the new 3 year rotation policy so plan for fire roads versus single track trails for ease of hiking.

Besides the great views from above Coast campground, the campground itself is gem. It is a great intro for someone new to backpacking. The vault toilets, potable water, food lockers, and picnic tables make it so that there are fewer things to have to worry about on someone's first hike-in trip. There are multiple routes into the campground so you can vary the mileage in. The lockers and picnic tables are either fairly new or just holding up well to the elements. Some things to be concerned about, the campground can get very windy. The west leg probably would be better sheltered than the south and east legs. The sites in the west leg are more tucked into brush, where the south and east are fairly open. Tent guy lines, even if not used would be a good idea to bring, as would a stove that can utilize a windscreen. I don't know if it was an atypical weekend when I was there, but it was windy enough to blow water bottles and our stove around. That didn't detract from having a great camp out. Great teachable moments for people who have never had to deal with it.

A wonderful overnight camping trip.
Great thanks to the Point Reyes Park rangers for the new bridge south of Coast camp on Coast trail, and for generally clearing the Coast trail so we could hike to Sculpture beach and enjoy its beauty. When I booked our site at Coast camp, the trail was still closed from the Woodward fire, so I had resigned myself to hiking elsewhere before going to Coast camp for the night. It was a really good surprise that the Park was able to re-open this part of the Coast trail in October. Thank you for the hard work. This trail re-opening makes it even more worthwhile to overnight at Coast camp.

Living Wisdom High School spent two nights at Coast Camp in October of 2021. We couldn't have had a more wonderful trip. The exquisite California coastline took our breaths away as we hiked in on the first day up and over the mountains, and proved a perfect site to explore, relax, and have fun over the coming days! The facilities at Coast Camp are well maintained and make for an easeful experience for the novice or experienced backpacker. While we took the long route up and over to arrive and then back out along the coast for 8+ miles, we also loved knowing that the hostel was just an easy 3 miles away if anything unexpected were to come up. Our students left their first backpacking trip full of awe at the beauty of nature and empowered by the challenge and adventure of the experience. Thank you, Point Reyes! We will be back again soon we hope!

Such a gorgeous camp. We had near-perfect weather conditions. A bit windy, so bring warm clothes and a windbreaker. We were sorry to see the trail blocked due to fire, but the beach provided plenty of fun and activities.

Sometimes, it is cold, windy, and overcast the whole time your there ... and sometimes not. This was one of those times. The windy was so strong we ended up chasing bags, papers, and even tent bags. Although we had a great fire on the beach in the afternoon, permitted, of course.

Point Reyes Coast camp is a beautiful place to camp and explore. This time we dehydrated our own meals and it worked out perfect! Be aware that in Spring the nights can be chilly and windy so come prepared. The beach with no one on it cannot be beat.

Everything was lovely, in spite of many trails still being closed. The campgrounds and restrooms were very clean, and the trails that were open were well-maintained.

We stayed at coast campground site 13(group site). The beach, camping sites including the bathroom was super clean and the stay was wonderful.

Although the online system shows almost fully booked the day we booked, only 3 sites were occupied... I am thinking maybe the park should implement some penalty for no show. On the other side, we do enjoy having almost all the sites and beaches to ourselves so probably I shouldn't complain.

Loved it! All was great. Be sure to use the bear boxes!!! Raccoons and birdies are very comfortable stealing your food and taking it into the bushes to eat. We tried to go in and clean up after months and months of their trashing the bushes, and we got poison oak! :(. Stick to the trails! It was a beautiful campsite. Beach is one in a million there. Unbelievable tide pools, Super!
