Wildcat Campground was a bucket list dream come true. Potable water, clean bathrooms, and a campground with breathtaking views made for an unforgettable backpacking trip with my friends. We were able to easily walk to Alamere Falls during low tide.

The Coast Trail is overgrown with Poison Oak, so it is hard to avoid brushing against it. Ticks are also transferred by walking through the high grass that brushes against your clothes.

Incredible campground, great and rewarding hike in, fantastic beach access. Easily one of my favorite campsites in Northern California. Highly recommend walking south down the beach to see the waterfall.

Beautiful trail. In some parts is overgrown but doable.I dont recommend hiking poles and hiking boots are not necessary. The campground is very nice and the bathrooms are clean and dont smell it all.

The new concrete tables are cold at night but so nice not to have old wood/splintery tables and the new bear boxes are amazing - mice aren't going to get your food anymore so you don't have to bring a bear canister.

We camped here 1 night on the worst weather. Forecast said there'd be thunder stomp with 100% rain in both Sunday and Monday! We debated if we should go or not, but we had a free President's Day so what the heck, we did. It's raining hard with wind gust sometime up to 30 mph! My friend's tent was destroyed over the night! The campground is an open valley without any trees, so there's no wind coverage. The bathroom is vault toilet so it's stink but clean enough. Since there's no one at the campground except one girl at site #6, we camped at site #7 instead of group camp site #1. The trails are well maintained but muddy at some parts. The best thing about this campground is it's very close to Alamere falls, about a mile walk on the beach. Overall, it's a great experience and good backpacking trip for beginners.

The waterfall was the biggest I've ever seen it. Despite the rain we got on one of our days, it was still a fabulous trip.

Great experience! We saw harbor seals, harbor porpoises, bobcats, river otters, Tule elk, surf scoters, common eiders, curlews, dowitchers, cormorants, widgeon, turkey vultures, and gulls. Upland birds like Townsends warbler and spotted towhee as well. The campground is in a great location for beach exploring and checking out the lakes.

This is a beautiful hike and destination. The fog was far enough off the coast that you could see the Farallons. The water system was out but Alamere Falls was running, as well as a small trickle of a creek on the path to the beach. Great hike!

Nice campground and hike in. Not recommended in windy or rainy weather, as there is little to no protection.

The campground was wonderful. Lots of wildlife (and lots of weather). As always it is a delightful hike in.Alas, the crowds have gotten very bad. Specifically lots of TP and even some visible human waste along the trail. In addition the words "No Dogs" seem to be only for other people's dogs. I saw no fewer than ten dogs on the trail on Sunday morning, half of which were off leash. This included a loose pit bull mix, a loose doberman, and a chihuahua (in the arms of its owner) who was its way to camp at Wildcat. I have been attending and leading Spring backpack trips to Point Reyes for over 10 years. Given the lack of respect for the trail and the other hikers, I am definitely rethinking next year's destination.

Campground has lots of space, with individual and group campsites. If you reserve a group site, there is room for 5-7 tents. Right next to the beach. Bring a tent: fog or dew make it wet at night. Short walk to Alamere Falls, even going in the drought. About a 3 hour walk in from any direction.

Both the 6 mile hike from the Palomarin trailhead along the Coast Trail to Wildcat camp was amazing. The winding trail took us to amazing views of the Pacific Ocean, inland lakes and tree covered areas, stopping at Alamere Falls, before reaching our camp.

Each campsite fells secluded with the tall vegetation surrounding each site. The restrooms were well maintained!

Cant wait to return!
