Pine Flat Lake is beautiful this time of the year with green grass, cool temps, and no crowds. Plus, there are two separate camp volunteers stationed at Island Park campground, which helps to prevent non-campers and those without reserved campsites from taking over the campground. I had an enjoyable experience.

Not enough information to make a reservation. I lose money on the first reservation because there was not enough information for me, and by the time I realize I didnt have time to cancel it. It was a day after.

Worse experience ever. It was 97 degrees outside when the power went off on July 2 & 3 in the late afternoon. Power did not come back on until the next morning due to down power line. I had to contact PG&E directly to find out what was going on since the Pine Flat headquarters phone was off-line & there were no rangers present. Rangers were short staff, but available during the day at the campground throughout the holiday weekend, but too busy to talk except for a few minutes, if you can catch them. On July 4, at 7pm, sherrif sirens start going off followed by boat horns later throughout the campground. I thought the sherrif was chasing someone & then thought their was a violent protest. I later discovered it was a parade of people in golf carts from the RV Park lead by a ranger. With everything going on politically, this was in bad taste. Restrooms were closed unexpectively again on July 5, so at 12 midnight, 12 people in groups of 2 to 3 entered my campsite to access the vault toilet, some hung out at my campsite trying to look through my windows, others from the gate shinned a flashlight on my camper. Not knowing what was going on, I called the sherrif who couldn't get in due to the closed gates, but patrolled the boat ramp. The main rangers' office phone still does not work. My Weboost provides consistent phone connection. Campers can't reach the rangers on the phone to ask questions or report problems. The lack of communication from USACE staff during camp problems only amplifies the situation. I have enjoyed camping at Pine Flat for four years & it is a beautiful campground. But I won't be back due to lack of camphosts, ranger shortage, many facility problems, no visible contract-sherrif on duty, lack of communication, & ongoing camp safety issues that continue to get worse, ie, my outside camping equipment was stolen during my last two prior visits. This campground is so poorly managed, it needs to be shut down until all the problems are resolved.

It reached 107 one day during this visit. Pine Flat is a beautiful camping area with hills and shade trees. The summers are hot.

Nice weather in May. Parking space has been changed, which is a problem.

Pine Flat Lake is a beautiful campground with a handful of electric sites for 24 feet or larger RVs. There are many non-electric sites closer to the lake in the campground for large RVs and at overflow area. Getting in and out of the campground may be challenging for large RVs due to a steep winding road prior to the campground and the small sharp left turn ramp exiting . The vehicle parking spot for campsite #41 is more suited for a 20-foot length RV or less, and probably best for tent camping. The actual campsite is down the hill next to the entrance, so not idea for privacy or quietness. The vehicle parking spot for #41 is slightly unlevel, so you may need leveling blocks for an RV. The restrooms near #41 are closed during the off season. Plus, it was crowded when I visited in early November, when the campground is normally quiet during the off season. As such, the breaking of USACE camping guidelines was compounded.

It is very hot in July. But the beauty of Pine Flat Lake made the visit worth while.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds managed by USACE. Camphost volunteer on site through the winter is a big plus.

Arrived and was unable to park a trailer in the spot due to a car parked near and the position of the spot. This park is not trailer friendly do not recommend. Had to head back home due to the spot not being able to park in and lost out on my money for the reservation.

At Christmas the campground was mostly vacant with a few campers. Be prepared to be the the only camper on some days.

Pine Flat Lake is one of my favorite places to camp in the USACE managed campgrounds during the open boat ramp season. Off season has a different vibe with not much water activity to enjoy. The lake is very nice with a good water level and the campsites are nice with some shaded sites.

Nice campground. Just be aware that the boat ramp closed after Labor Day, as well as two out of four restrooms. So the atmosphere does not feel like a resort as it did prior.

the location of the campground near the lake was pretty and the lake provides a good cool down from the hot weather. although there was a red light near the check in gate that was loudly buzzing all night long which kept us up all night since our campground was right above the check in gate. the power also went out for the night.

Park Island Campground had a resort vibe. I enjoyed my stay and felt very safe. The rangers did a great job patrolling, were helpful, and friendly. Gates are locked at night on the weekends, but campers can exit in an emergency. Pine Flat Lake is beautiful with many visitors enjoying water sports. I plan to visit again.

Beautiful lakeside location and lovely surrounding area for springtime / fall camping. Upper sites are really nice, with many on a slope to keep views interesting, so there are a few steps to navigate. Lower 'overflow' sites are basically an open flat area better for RVs rather than tents. The 230V electric hookup option at some sites was excellent for charging the Tesla (bring your mobile cable & 14-30 plug adapter). One slight downside to our site #41 was that the gravel tent pad was rather small, barely large enough for our "4 person" tent (100" x 86"). Will be back, but probably not during the summer when a higher altitude & forested campground would be a cooler option.

Nice place for the 3 mild seasons. Not some place I would go in the summer without a boat. Now for the downside. BEWARE the site map and the lengths it says they will accommodate. I used the filter option for a 30ft RV with electrical and found a lot of them so booked one. Got there and it is basically a parking spot with NO WAY to fit even a 20ft RV in it. Talked to a ranger there who said he was going to recommend the sites be reevaluated so the Rec.Gov can be updated with correct site lengths. He let us move into a empty camp host spot instead or we really would have had to leave. Also I noticed a lot of people just showing up and taking sites because there are no reserved signs on them when there is no camp host so if you go without a reservation and take an empty site just know that you could be asked to move by someone that reserved it. All the sites do have a sign that says they must be reserved in advanced so all you people who just show up hoping for an empty site good luck with not getting moved out.

The campground setting was beautiful, the grounds and bathrooms were clean. There is no cell service, so if you wanted to change sites or call a ranger you have to use the payphone on site.
