Pine Flat lake is beautiful. However, during this visit, the ranger office's phone system was down. Two men were in the back of my campsite looking in my camper on Friday and on Saturday night, someone stoled my nice picnic table set up. The rangers couldn't be reached on the phone. In addition, ranger presence was very thin. It did not feel safe, even with the volunteers next door.

First day ruined the whole stay. Previous camper overstayed and we had no place to set up the tent. We were so tired from the travel and just wanted to get our tent up and cook our food. We did not start setting up till they arrived and left at 830pm. We were already exhausted, hungry, dehydrated, and experienced heat exhaustion. We had headaches for 2 days. Not even the rangers could get a hold of the previous campers.

The Location and site was very good. Less insects in the restrooms would be perfect.

We came at the perfect time of year and basically had the campground to ourselves. In looking at the campground overall, some of the RV sites are too steep or unbalanced to be good with automatic levelers. We had site #11 and it was fine, but our friends were assigned camp #10. After multiple tries, we could not get their motor home leveled. Luckily the ranger came along later that evening and our friends were able to move to site 7.I understand not having full hookups since the campground is so near water, however, I would recommend upgrading all motor home and trailer sites with a water spigot. You don't want to be on the road with a full tank of water for multiple reasons. We have a long rig and had to really juggle it around to be able fill it up at the campground. My final suggestions would be:1) Provide some hiking trail maps or a board of trails for folks that like to walk. We looked at the entrance booth and there was nothing posted. There are many ways that this area could be enjoyed and an activities list would be very helpful.2) Make note on the campground website that boat rentals don't begin until May (it was not extremely clear that recreation on the lake was so seasonal). We had 65 +/- degree days and had we understood that none of the marinas rented boats until after May 1st, we would have brought out kayak.

Enjoyed the quiet, views, and proximity to Kings Canyon NP. Most sites hilly, with picnic tables & firepits a good distance from parking spot. One bar intermittent T-Mobile cell service. Was a lot of trash on roads leading down to water, picked up 2 large bags but still more there. Will return as overall great experience.

We really liked the spacious campground we were in, lots of privacy. The only negative experience was the noise from other campers during late and early morning hours.

Had an amazing time. The park was super clean with an amazing view and the park rangers were very helpful. Will definitely be making more family camping trips to Island Park.
