Camping at Fallen Leaf Campground in August is always a delightful experience. We were fortunate enough to have spot 17, which offered a spacious area and a long circular driveway. While the spot was not perfectly level, we were able to make it work for our needs. The location was peaceful, although it was a bit of a distance from the lake. We did observe several bears in the vicinity, but thankfully, they maintained a safe distance. The weather was pleasant, with temperatures in the mid-80s. Unfortunately, cell phone coverage was limited, so we had to go to the lake or the store area to check our messages.

Hike back to Fallen Leaf Lake was beautiful and easy to do. Bear visits did occur.

We stayed in 2 different spaces. Space 36 was a great spot although it is not very private. The spot is level and spacious. I would definitely stay in that spot again. We also stayed in spot 17. Space 17 is pretty and large as a pull through but the space itself is on a hill and from side to side is not level either. Space 17 is not easy to level out a trailer. The campground itself is wonderful and very nice and very well maintained. We had cell phone with att but it was not fast but did work. Would definitely come back.

We initially were at a campsight that was infested with yellow jackets, so our first couple of days were not that enjoyable. We were able to change campsights and everything was great from that point forward. There are no hook-ups at this campground but as long as you have a way to generate your own power you are fine. We were there for 5 days and had no problems. We do have an onboard generator and solar as well. There is no potable water at the individual sites so come prepared. There are potable water filling stations available throughout the campground though. There is no dump station at the campground but there is one at another campground in Camp Richardson (aka "Camp Rich") close by. There is a dump station stated on the Fallen Leaf Campground map, but that is incorrect. Why they haven't correct that is amazing to me given the fact that we spend a bit of time trying to find something that wasn't even there. The campground itself is beautiful, clean, quiet, well managed and we will visit again soon. The showers were clean with hot water and run on quarters. The adjacent lake is great for recreation and we enjoyed fishing and swimming even though the water was a bit chilly, but we got use to it. Boats are allowed on the lake and we saw some water skiers as well. I do not beleive there is a boat ramp within the campground. Cell service is pretty limited. We have AT&T and Verizon and struggled to get a signal most of the time we were there. It would be nice if a tower was added so you were able to have access. I know many people have online businesses so having access is a key issue for them when deciding where to stay, not to mention for emergency puposes. All in all it was a very enjoyable stay in natural suroundings.
