Campground is beautiful and in a great location for hiking, biking, pedaling. However, be prepared for excessive fees for a govt campground. You will be charged $12 for the first and each extra vehicle (most all public camps allow 2 vehicles with the overnight fee) $10 extra for campers to use the septic dump, and you will not be allowed to park at the day use parking area within the campground for closer lake access without paying an additional day use fee at the campground entrance kiosk. In fact the campground hosts blocked us in the day use parking space with 2 golf carts and threatened to tow our vehicle from the day use parking when we parked there not knowing the fee rules, even though it was very empty. Your camping fee also does not cover entrance to the local public beaches run by the same operator. The campground has several showers and bathrooms but the bathrooms near us were closed during our stay for some reason and the shower building near us had 1 of the 4 stalls permanently locked and a second shower inoperable. We had a similar experience last year as well.

Great experience at Fallen Leaf Campground. The site was clean and the check-in process was simple. We loved exploring the nearby Fallen Leaf Lake. Would definitely stay here again.

Lots of irritating generators in use which should be eliminated entirely, or regulated much better. Nothing worse than the RV camper who lights up the night with strings of lights, leaves RV interior lights on for hours, followed up by running the generator (for hours) in the morning. Solar is a great option and should be the first choice.
The showers performed fairly, sometimes warm water, sometimes cool, sometimes cold……for a $1/ 3 minute shower, it seems to me that reliable warm water could be provided.
Lastly, the campground crew of private citizens are excellent, do great work, and keep the campground in good shape.

Great campsite, clean bathrooms, close to a lot of hiking/water activities. Couldn’t have had a better time!
