This is a really beautiful campground, with great spacing between sites, lots of open space around the sites, and it never seemed crowed, though I'm sure it was pretty full. The concessionaire does an excellent job of keeping the place clean and running like a clock.

Site #103 is a very nice, private, shaded site. The rest rooms are clean, the staff very friendly. Our only complaints are the BEARS! With all of our food stored as instructed, she still came in our camp, lunged at me and our dog and charged and swatted at my boyfriend. None of the scare the bear techniques worked. He ended up running to the camp host for assistance. She was tagged already, a bear this aggressive should be relocated by the bear league, way too many kids, etc. in the campground. The same night we were visited again by a smaller bear, not as aggressive, but not in fear of us either. This is definitely a problem, and I dont think well be returning anytime soon, unfortunately.

We absolutely love coming to Fallen Leaf Lake! We've been coming here for over 30 years. There's plenty of things to do....hiking, kayaking, cycling etc. It's also just a stones throw from Lake Tahoe's Baldwin Beach, Camp Richardson and Pope Beach and plenty of other areas for activities! There are occasional visits from the local bears coming through the campground but as long as you exercise bear safety rules there's not much to worry about. We did have a few bears come through our campsite but they didn't bother us....just looking for food. I did have one close encounter with a mama bear and two cubs but I just waved my arms and talked to them they just wandered off with no incidents. We'll definitely be coming back again!

Campsites are far apart, campground was clean, quiet and well maintained. Beautiful spot away from the busyness of Lake Tahoe but close enough if you want to visit. Fallen Leaf lake is lovely in of itself.

Well managed campground.

But not enough space. You can park 2 economic sized cars at best.

Nice campground with access to the Fallen Leaf lake. Little difficult to get to as it’s always booked. The lake was the best part with clear water and clean beaches ideal for those with small children as the lake is not so deep at least near the beach ideal for kayaking, tube floating etc.
The camp ground has access to toilets, taps for water in addition to hot showers that takes 4 quarters for a 3 min shower.

Overall, a very good campground with friendly staff!!! Would go again!!!

I usually love this place... and I've never had issues before when booking for October.

HOWEVER... I tried to book reservations for the weekend of Memorial Day. I was able to book Thursday and Friday.... but I was unable to book Saturday and Sunday because they were blocked off as "First-Come First-Serve". Ok.....so I try to call the number listed on their page for clarity. Nothing. Emailed the address listed on their page.... nothing. Tried to look up some other way to contact them... nothing. Ok well... the website says first come first serve so how hard could it really be to be first in line to book?

We arrived Thursday night (BTW ... their check-in closes at 5PM M-TH instead of 8PM F-SUN) and they weren't there. Therefore, we checked in the next morning and ask about making reservations for the weekend. The lady tells us they are completely booked already. What??? How is that possible? She tells me that I needed to book online. Um, yea ... that's what I tried to do. The lady just says, "I don't know why the website says that but we are booked up." She just hands me a map of the campgrounds with a reservation call number at the bottom and that was it. No sympathy. No recommendations to other places to check.

I couldn't book online at the time... I couldn't contact you through your phone... you didn't respond to email..... so how is it possible that it was booked through?? I wish somebody would tell me their secret on how they did it... must be some inside knowledge...

We ended up having to pack up all of our stuff and find an ACTUAL first come first serve campground (which, by that time was a race against time since EVERYBODY was coming up to book for the weekend too). We got extremely lucky and found two sites together last minute.

Anyways... here is some info that hasn't been updated (as of Memorial Weekend anyways):
Coin-operated showers are open. (4 quarters for 3 minutes).
Campfires are allowed.
At least two of the bathrooms were tagged out.
