Fallen Leaf Campground is beautiful! I woke up early one morning to see a very large bear meander through the meadow. My only complaint was the generator noise of several neighbors. Quiet hours could be better enforced.I wish motor home folks realized that most of us go camping to get away from noise and to enjoy the quiet beauty of nature.Maybe there should be some regulations about acceptable noise levels allowed in parks? I know they do make quiet generators.

This was my first time to stay at Fallen Leaf Campground, and I loved it. I stayed in site #88. It was on the meadow, which gave a lot of open space to look out to. Site 86 was quite close on the left side, but site 90 on the right was a bit of a distance away, so it really felt spacious and not too crowded. Lots of bear action nearly every day, especially in the evenings and early mornings. Make sure you listen to what the camp staff says - keep ALL FOOD and anything with a scent in the bear box!!

Beautiful campground. Bike path to Lake Tahoe, plus easy walking distance to Fallen Leaf where there is cell service.

I love this campground. Just stayed 10 days because I got there for my first time after checking out the higher rated Nevada Beach, (too cramped for my taste, left my site right after check in), and Fallen Leaf was awesome! Last minute sites every night, so we moved quite a bit. Staff were helpful in easy transfers. The staff are really kind, professional, knowledgeable and I can tell they work really hard so be nice to them! I stayed in 78 (awesome, spacious, private, very near lake trail), 88 (faced forward so door could be closer for my disabled sister, fine site, shorter driveway, nice view of meadow), 57 (very spacious and mostly private though mama bear and 2 cubs walked through), 133A (high rated site, likely bc the driveway is huge, well paved and very flat) which we liked well enough but less private than others), 81 (have 2020 class A, wheels off ground but still great site, close to lake trail), 85- closest site to lake trail, also worked great for us, pulled in forward to have more privacy on door side, and 62- super private, pull through. I also appreciate they have a wood fire burn ban. I know Americans love their campfires but one ember is all it takes to wipe out CA. Plus, theyre just bad for the environment and our health. I feel for asthmatics! Like I said, the fallen leaf campground is just wonderful. I definitely liked it better than Nevada Beach, which just felt crowded but I get the appeal of being on Lake Tahoe itself. That being said, Fallen Leaf lake is just gorgeous! Easy access from the campground. Connectivity is super spotty. I have Verizon and a skyroam booster. Could do some texting, no sending photos, some calls and booked a campground a couple times, but it was very hit and miss. Not a problem if you can unplug. Raleys super market a short drive and phones work there.
