So it was level, and we were pleased with its location that we picked (#13). The people were friendly. Camp host was extremely friendly. good location wouldve been nice to have some hooks to hang clothes and towels when showering in the shower. Easy access to Nevada to get gas considering California. Gas is outrageous. That was a major turn off for my whole trip in California was being gouged for gas.

Facility clean, camp space spacious and not stacked on top of each others. Bathrooms and showers were cleaned multiple times each day. Large shower stalls provide plenty of water volumes and reasonable priced ( note: Fallen Leaf showers are one of the better one during our year long wandering). Access to a dog friendly lake is plus as many other surrounding campgrounds donot allow dogs on their beach. Employees very friendly and helpful and waved hello as they passed by in their utility carts. We did not have reservation but drove up and a helpful kios employee gave us choices of several canceled spots and help us select a great quiet site based upon our criteria.We saw a total of 6 bears (1 mama bear with 2 cubs, 2 big bears traveling together and one solitary bear ) lumbering thru our camp but never feel endangered as we properly stored our food in the provided bear box. We did hear some nearby campers complaining about bear(s) vandalizing their equipments/campgrounds but as long as one take necessary precautionary and store food in the bear box and discard trash in the bear proof dumpsters , there should be no problem as during the fall these bears only were interested in fattening up for the winter and prefer not to have any interaction with humans or their dogsWill looking forward to return next year.

The site map for the Fallen Leaf Lake RV Campground on Recreation.gov does not correspond to the actual RV sites at the campground, the site map is misleading a huge problem when planning a trip to this RV campground. The site that my wife and I originally reserved is shown on recreation.gov as a "pull through" spot, upon check-in and arrival at the designated spot, the spot is NOT a "pull-through" but instead a "back-in". Normally back-in spots are no problem for us, however.....the second problem at Fallen Leaf Lake RV Campground is the narrow roads and HUGE BOULDERS that line the road-making back-in maneuvering a significant problem for a longbed pickup truck like ours (and our 5th wheel is only 28ft!). The staff at the check-in kiosk were helpful in finding us a suitable RV spot (after 3 attempts at smaller spots the 4th spot finally worked out). In the future, I will call to ensure that the site I reserved is EXACTLY the spot that I paid for even though the campground staff have the same incorrect site map as what is shown on recreation.gov. My wife and I are local in the are and are very disappointed by the lack of concern given to this problem. Spots are tight and the roads narrow, some lined with very large rocks that will damage your vehicle if you are not super duper careful when pulling in and maneuvering around and near your designated RV spot!
