The lake is beautiful. Great weather in mid April. I would stay on the east side to get son in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Restrooms are not well kept. Clean restrooms would make this place the best for camping but of course they are not clean.

We really like it here, but many of the site pads are very unlevel. Other than that, it's great.

We went mid April and chose site 52. It was gorgeous- pretty wildflowers in meadows grass. Three trees stood on our site and we were right next to the side of the lake. Would definitely come back.

Reserving the site on recreation.gov was quite easy. I have camped in spot 54 many times before and this was the first time I had to clean my campsite before I could use it. I found used condom wrappers and a used condom in the site. I found a lot of other garbage as well. The bathrooms were also in need of attention. I camped in this spot a month ago and noticed the light over the women's restroom toilets was not working. The light in the shower worked but not the toilet area. The toilet paper could be refreshed more often as well. I brought my own this time in response to running out last time and needed it this time.

There were so many leeches :/ I didn’t stay long enough to notice anything else, not worth $20 a night.

A lot of the campsites at Acorn are sloping down (not flat ground) esp. the campsite near the lake shore. It was really difficult to find a spot to set-up our tent. Also it was pretty dirty, there was trash everywhere! It was also pretty hot (90s - 100+ degrees) this time around and there weren’t a lot of trees (esp. on our campground) so there’s no shade. Be prepared to bring a canopy to cover your picnic area.

The restrooms were filthy when we arrived on Thursday but Rangers came and cleaned the restrooms on Friday. The shower didn’t really work very well, it was practically just dripping out of the spout.

Lastly, the lake was also pretty dry, the hike from our campsite to the lake shore, with the heat and distance, was gruesome! We ended up driving near the boat launch to go swim at the lake.

This campground would’ve had a lot of potential if there are shade and clean.
