Our site 131 was very nice. The view was fantastic! Our only wish is that the sites are closer to the water. With the lake at full pool its still a long way from the water.

I was hoping for and expecting a specific campsite at New Melones...when I got there , there was a homeless family living in homeless conditions.. which made my plans of a quiet evening an impossibility. So i had to relocate...which was acceptable but an inconvenience..

Camped there three times now. Every time there has been the same woman living at the campground in a popup camper. She screams "shut up" to her barking dogs all day, all night and early in the morning. Walks around drinking soda and smoking. Trash and stuff scattered around everywhere. Had to clean up my campsite twice from her garbage blowing into my space. I did not know this campground was also used as a trailer park for permanent residence.

You can pic your camp site (which was great) but you can’t pic your camp sites neighbors. Much to loud late at night and early morning. It was not the peaceful weekend getaway we were hoping for.

Great spot with great views. Convenient for short trips to Angel’s Camp, Sonora and Columbia State Park. Facilities were minimised due to COVID, but WCs were clean and usable. Water spigots at the campground ran dry after the first night which was inconvenient. Looking for a decent place to bathe and swim in the lake was the most challenging aspect of the trip.
