We camp here quite often and really enjoy it. Kayaking on the lake is fun. Gates are locked by 9 so just make sure to be back from anything by then.

We always enjoy our stay at Glory Hole Rec area. This time there were hardly any people there (except on the weekend). We often kayak and the rangers were very informative about the lake access and checking the kayak for mussels. It can get very hot there so look for a spot with some shade.

Great campsite! It was quiet and clean. Restrooms were kept clean as well. We definitely will be back!

Spacious sites with lots of shade options. A lot of the campgrounds are closed and in disrepair, but the open 2 open ones are nice.

Water level was down about 200 ft. Temps were triple digits in late June / early July. We rented a patio boat at the marina which was really fun. There weren't any good beaches on New Melones for kids, so we went to Pinecrest, Alpine, Murphys and Arnold on the other days for more kid friendly lakes and cooler temps. On the first day my wife and kids scrambled down to the lake from the campsite. It was really muddy down there. I sliced my foot open in the mud and my 5 year old got about 100 little leaches on him. We pinched/pulled them all off without too much trouble.

Very nice visit, didn't know there was a 6$ service fee using recreation.gov, you should make that clear.
