Ranger was extremely helpful while making his morning rounds and campsites were very clean. Had a great hike on the BRT and had multiple sightings of the nearby elk herd. Our kids loved the experience and the night sky was spectacular.

We had a wonderful time camping at Steel Creek. Being so close to the Buffalo River is such a plus. All the grand kids had lots of fun playing in the river, looking at rocks, and catching tadpoles .

The rangers were very knowledgeable and helpful, clean bathrooms, and campsite. Our neighboring campers were friendly and mostly respectful of quiet hours, etc. The fall sights are beautiful this time of year, and it was a bonus that they were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Buffalo National River with a yoga class that took place in view of all the beauty

Steel Creek is a beautiful campground that is maintained well. The bluffs are gorgeous and there's plenty of nearby hikes and activities nearby. The Lost Valley hiking trail is close by and it's one of the most hiked trails in all of Arkansas, according to a Park Ranger. I highly recommend this campground.

Amazing campground and experience. Beautiful scenery, especially in the fall. The drive to the site was crooked and steep but all paved and not too bad. No cell service at the site, but there is a wifi outside of a shop in Ponca about 10 mins away where you can pull your car up outside and connect to the internet. Lots of awesome hiking nearby as well and very dog friendly.

The bluffs and river are beautiful and the campground is central to many great spots to hit in the Ozarks. We were there Weds through Friday night. Weds and Thurs night were great but Friday night was packed with cars rolling in at all hours of the night and many people setting up camp in areas that were not campsites.

Great campsite! Beautiful views of the Buffalo. Easy check-in. Quiet, well-maintained space. Bathrooms were clean. Had a cute armadillo hang out near our spot! Would stay again!

Beautiful campground. Clean bathrooms. 10-15 minute drive to the Lost Valley and Centerpoint/ Goat trail hikes. About a 40 minute drive to the Whitaker Point trail. There is also a trailhead at the campground. The campground is on the Buffalo River, so you can use the campground as the input for a float if you come during float season (check river levels because by August, the river is too low to float on this part of the river). The town of Ponca is about 10 minutes up the road, and there are stores to rent canoes from or to buy items you forgot to pack, firewood, gas, food, or souvenirs. Lost Valley Canoe and Lodging in Ponca has WiFi you can access 24/7. They post the password in the window. The WiFi is useful because there is no cell service, and Google Maps/ Apple Maps both don’t work out here unless you get on WiFi to start the route/ have the map downloaded. At night, armadillos come out at the campground. It started raining heavily while we were here. The rain created a waterfall that was coming down off Roark Bluff behind our campsite. Sites 1-10 are reservable, and the rest of the sites are first come first serve.

We chose this campground because it was mostly an open field - my brother is into night sky photography and it seemed the perfect place. Sadly, it was cloudy the whole time for us, but it could have been awesome!

We had sites 2 and 4, and while there were far from the restrooms, I think they were the most private. Most of the other guests were camped out at that end (we were at the sites closest to the entrance). I liked that there was a path leading to the beautiful river at the backside of my campsite.

Can't say how the campground would be if it were full, but with the time we were there being cold and cloudy (40's at night), it was a nice, quiet stay.

We did use the fire-ring (someone had left wood) and the area was level and picnic tables were clean.

The campground was close to the places we wanted to see in the area, so it was a happy choice for us.

The location is fantastic, as always, even if there are thunderstorms in the forecast during your stay. There are multiple places to purchase firewood if that's the one thing you can't find a place for in your vehicle.

Bring a hammock if you're camping along the tree-line. You won't regret it. Floating the river when it's warm is always a fantastic activity. There's a lot of hiking trails around as well as the Elk in the early morning.
