Probably been there at least 30 times over the last 40 years. Always looking forward to the next time. This time took Grandchildren that went as kids-this time they had their spouses and kids with them.

The asphalt that was put on the camper sites is going to cause someone to break an ankle. the surrounding ground should be level with the pad. Clear out the trees and brush to allow a view of the river at the place where campground B sites are washed and no longer utilized.

We had one space reserved June 6 through June 11 and family reserved two adjacent spaces June 9 through June 11. Despite poor weather forecasts, weather was great - one day with rain early. It was cool in the morning - light jackets for comfort - and sunny much of the time. Perfect short weather. We had a great camp hosts. They worked tirelessly to make everyone's vacation run smoothly. All the facilities we used (Bathrooms with warm showers) worked flawlessly despite the campsite being totally full of all ages. The star of the trip was - as usual - the Buffalo River. All our crew agreed that the conditions were perfect. The river was high enough that no "dragging" was ever necessary, but low enough so the experienced had to be concerned about those less experienced. The water was crystal-clear, one could see all the way to the bottom on even deep holes. Water temperature was ideal - a little cool on the first immersion, but perfect on the warm days. The outfitters were on time, accommodating and helpful. One of our best family trips of the 32 years we have been coming.

The bathrooms are very bad. Some toilets don't flush, hand dryers don't dry or don't heat up to dry properly, and generally seem to be almost entirely unmaintained. The toilet paper is also what I'm guessing is half ply. It's probably a fine place if you have an rv with a bathroom but anything short of that you'll want to look somewhere else.

This was a fantastic first visit. We hiked a lot, rode bikes and enjoyed the river. A Ranger stopped by our camp sighter and invite our kids to become junior rangers. They Loved working on the workbooks in between hikes and became so excited to receive badges! What fun!

Beautiful setting, good weather. Plentiful, well marked hiking trails. The showers in the bathhouse at Loop B are much improved due to the replacement of the hated push-buttons with a simple valve. The river was perfect - Family did North Maumee to Buffalo Point on one day and Buffalo Point to Rush the next. The current was perfect, allowing for plenty of time to view the spectacular scenery. Fishing was good, as usual.
On the downside - overall maintenance is not as good as in past years, possibly due to the shortage of qualified personnel. The launch point at North Maumee was very poorly maintained, and should be moved at least 100 yards north to access the gravel bar as a launch site. We were not happy with the camp host, a departure from past experience. There were 35 family members in our party, and we expect to be back next year.

This was our first visit to the Ozarks. We spent two nights at the Buffalo National River campground in our RV, arriving just after several major thunderstorms. The river was too high and fast flowing for swimming and kayaking. The trails were moist but still walkable. The campground was neat but the showers were not in service when we were there. We wanted to visit the nearby Rush Valley Historic Village, but the concrete bridge crossing to the village was covered with flowing water although passable by car. Since we weren't sure what the condition of the area on the other side of the bridge was, we opted to turn back. Wish there had been a park ranger or some official posting to let us know whether the village was still accessible.

This park is always clean and well maintained. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The river was just right on this weekend and all the kids in our group (10) all had a blast on the float trip with a lot of educational opportunities provided by the local rangers.
