One of my most favorite places to camp! Easy access to the river & nice swimming areas.

Great site, clean restrooms, large open walking paths.

Probably been there at least 30 times over the last 40 years. Always looking forward to the next time. This time took Grandchildren that went as kids-this time they had their spouses and kids with them.

Beautiful setting, good weather. Plentiful, well marked hiking trails. The showers in the bathhouse at Loop B are much improved due to the replacement of the hated push-buttons with a simple valve. The river was perfect - Family did North Maumee to Buffalo Point on one day and Buffalo Point to Rush the next. The current was perfect, allowing for plenty of time to view the spectacular scenery. Fishing was good, as usual.

On the downside - overall maintenance is not as good as in past years, possibly due to the shortage of qualified personnel. The launch point at North Maumee was very poorly maintained, and should be moved at least 100 yards north to access the gravel bar as a launch site. We were not happy with the camp host, a departure from past experience. There were 35 family members in our party, and we expect to be back next year.

This was our first visit to the Ozarks. We spent two nights at the Buffalo National River campground in our RV, arriving just after several major thunderstorms. The river was too high and fast flowing for swimming and kayaking. The trails were moist but still walkable. The campground was neat but the showers were not in service when we were there. We wanted to visit the nearby Rush Valley Historic Village, but the concrete bridge crossing to the village was covered with flowing water although passable by car. Since we weren't sure what the condition of the area on the other side of the bridge was, we opted to turn back. Wish there had been a park ranger or some official posting to let us know whether the village was still accessible.
