Worst maintained NPS-affiliated campground I've stayed at in years: no soap in restroom dispensers, faucets not working, urinal not flushing so is just a smelly pool of everyone's combined waste. Sites are packed together and restroom paths are badly designed. Fortunately I had already planned to sleep in my car tonight, because this site had a tree branch down blocking the only usable tent space in it.Other NPS campgrounds in the Parkway are great (e.g. Pisgah) -- not sure why this one is so neglected.

Excellent campground for staging hiking trips in and around Banner Elk and Blowing Rock, NC, and Grandfather State Park & Mountain. Small sites, but not an issue for 25-footers. Conveniently located on Blue Ridge Parkway.

Large, beautiful and well maintained campground. Rather hilly so may not be the most friendly for walking and biking but the scenery makes it worth the effort. If you have a large RV / Trailer, be aware that many of the sites are not deep as you may be used to at other parks and with the level of forestry may make for a tight fit however we loved having all the trees and the site itself was more than adequate for our needs. Additionally, there is a trail that takes you over to the picnic area which is directly across the parkway from the lake. The lake has a very nice relatively easy to hike trail that goes all the way around allowing you to view some very beautiful view and well worth the effort.

A wonderful campground. Friendly, and helpful Staff. Very clean and well maintained. Sites are well spaced. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is that the layout reflects the fact that it is an older campground trying to keep up with modern campers. Several sites are far from level or are pull-outs with a few steps to the table and fire ring. All in all they do an excellent job with the resources they have. I would certainly stay here again.
