I really don't want to write a negative review, but as a service to others researching for a place to camp, I feel like that's the purpose of a review. First of all, this is no way intended as knock on the Park personnel or NPS in general. They have been starved of federal funding for many years, and it shows unfortunately - but again, not any one person's fault working at the site or for the NPS.Location and views: 5 stars plusCampground: 1 stars due to lack of maintenance (see below)The good: beautiful sites, views and sounds. The campsite was mostly clean and very private thanks to the 10 foot plus native rhododendrons or mountain laurel. The bad: no fresh water at the dump station for our now nearly empty fresh water tank. The lights in the restrooms were off or non-functional. Also, no heat either. There were too many leaves on the ground around the restrooms was well, resulting in a difficult walk up the steep path with some slipping around. We left it better than we found it by using our shoes to scoot many of the leaves off the path. I realize you can't stop leaves from falling, but clearly there had been very little maintenance for a while around the restrooms, and our site. No one likes to hear leaf blowers, but then no one wants a broken hip, arm, etc due to a fall.

The park was absolutely spectacular the 2nd week in October! We were very private surrounded by all the beautiful trees! Many hikes in the park and to be right on the Blue Ridge Parkway was the perfect location! No hookups or internet but who needs all that when you are surrounded by so much beauty!

This park is very peaceful with plenty of space between sites. Restrooms and showers are available. The lake view is surrounded with mountains that offer kayak rentals. There are many hiking trails and nearby attractions you dont want to miss while staying at this park! It will not disappoint you!

Julian Price Campground is well-located for hikers and travelers along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The multiple camping loops are landscaped differently, providing several styles of campsite. This overall review could have rated VERY GOOD rather than POOR if it weren't for the multiple generators running nearly all day during the "not quiet hours" of RV loops. The only way to escape the generator noise was to leave the loop all day. Generator electricity might be intermittently necessary for 120-volt appliances such as microwave ovens and air conditioners, but neither is used all day long during September. One of the multiple tent loops eliminates generators, and perhaps the Park officials would consider eliminating generators from parts of RV loops in their otherwise fine campgrounds. Many RVs have new battery and solar technology adequate for electricity. I look forward to camp quietly with excellent views and trails. Why should unnecessary and disruptive noise be allowed throughout RV campground loops?

Our campsite was not level. The campground was beautiful and well maintained.
