We were in a pull through on a curve with no way to safely put our slide out. We were as close the curb as we could get and our steps had to rest on the high curb - no way to get close enough for them to drop over the high stones. The foliage was so close to the picnic table that it was not safe to set up our outdoor kitchen and seating unless we used the picnic table to cook on, which we do not like to do. We have camped at many national and state parks and were very disappointed in this site. We drove through and marked a couple that might work for us as this is a good location for us when returning to Georgia from long northern trips. My advice is to throughly check out the sites before you reserve.

Be advised, if you are choosing a non back-in site on loop F, you are literally parking on the roadside. Not ideal for an RV. Otherwise, great spot and location on the Blueridge Parkway.

Beautiful spot, campsites were private in the Rhododendron thicket.

This is a beautiful, older campground and we love that. It has character which you simply cannot find in newer, fancier, "cookie cutter" chains. Generations of American families have come here, with thier children and that is just ingrained in the place. You see it in the well worn paths underneath the mountain laurel between the campsites. To be honest? I well remember helping to make, or at least, keep those paths close to 40 years ago when I came here as a child. The campsites are spacious and clean, the people, both NPS workers and other campers, are friendly. It is almost like one big, homecoming every time we come here. In recent years we have been staying in the RV loop, now that we have gotten older and need to haul a "hotel room on wheels" everywhere with us. The RV sites are all generally level and easy to get into. Do be aware that the listed "pull thru sites are merely "pull overs" on the side of the loop some are better than others. We used one this trip and it was good. Check the map when you register. It is a "boondocking" campground but we prefer that with the lower price and better atmosphere. The lake is lovely and a fun paddle. This past trip I pulled many fish from it but, I must confess, the largest I would have used for bait elsewhere! My wife and I love the synchronized blue lighting bug displays, in the area, from May until the end of June every year. It is a sight worth seeing. The park is also not to be beat for it's proximity to Blowing Rock, Boone, Tweetsie Railroad, Horn in the West, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls/Gorge and many other area attractions. In closing let me say that you will not regret a stay at Julian Price on the BRP.
