Great campsite, lots of options, love the mix of reserved and FCFS (first come first served) sites. Had a very nice stay, beautiful area.

Tent camping mid-week in leaf season at site D10. This is an excellent campground for someone who wants to get out and do some camping, but still have good facilities. Quiet at night, site was in good shape and no litter, so people are good about keeping things clean. The staff and rangers were really nice. Bathhouse in D loop has hot showers, but not enough hot water for morning rush, so go early or later. Sites near bathrooms will be fairly brightly lit, which might be good if you have small children, but otherwise you might want to choose a site a little farther away. Some of the tent pads, including D10, have a gravel surface. You will want to plan accordingly. I had a ground tarp under the tent, a floor tarp in the tent, and a camp cot, so no problem. Some sites in B loop show a paved path. That is the Boone Fork Trail -- a 5 mile loop that runs through the campground. I very much recommend the Boone Fork Loop, but it is a moderately strenuous workout. Expect to clamber over roots and rocks for most of the 5 miles, and there are many interesting and challenging creek crossings. Proper footwear is a must, either good water-resistant hiking boots, or some people had a kind of hiking water-shoes so that they could just walk through the streams.

This is such a great spot; last year we camped here 4 times! Awesome hikes, beautiful scenery and a great campsite. We'll be back in 2020!
