Excellent experience creating wonderful memories. The people renting kayaks and canoes are awesome, friendly and so helpful! So much to do here!

The lake and hiking trails are amazingly beautiful. The campgrounds are easy to access and comfortable.

We had a good time at Julian Price, with a few down sides as well. We stayed on the lakeside (reserved ahead of time), so we can only speak to that! Check-in, at least when we arrived, was very confusing and there was no one to talk to/check-in with and so we never did obtain tags for our vehicles or anything like that. There is a residence right at the entrance check-in with someone sitting outside who seemed an appropriate person to ask about where to check in, but she was very unhappy to be asked about anything. Some of the sites were really really nice and others we very minimal and cramped, so I think a lot depends on which site you book. We also happened to go on a very busy weekend (Labor Day) so this certainly contributed, but the park was extremely crowded and we hadnt expected how much loud road noise there would be from the BRP. It sounded like we were camping on a highway, to be honest, even at night. Which for us took away from the camping ambiance. All that said, it was beautiful, the lake was fun to hike around and fish and splash in, the main park is just up the road and so easy to access for hiking (though also insanely crowded on Labor Day), and being so close to Boone and Blowing Rock was great! We love an excuse to go to Blowing Rock on our way to and from camping. We will certainly go back, but on a less congested weekend and knowing which sites we prefer.

The area was pretty, the camp site was good, facilities were good (dumpster for trash, roads, showers). The only two items of note are that there was a dead tree in our campground (should be removed in case of windstorm - falling branches) and the restrooms by our campsite were filthy to the point of being un-usable.
