Another excellent outing. The rangers are very helpful and very friendly there. The lake was still way down due to the dam damage. But that was no big deal. Trails were still open.

The park is close to Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountain. The park has nice rest room and showers in the center of the loop. The staff were very nice.

I've been camping at Julian Price over 20 years, so I have a backlog of experiences in the campground, including a bear attack on my ice chest years ago. The dog and I have been camping a lot this summer in the Federal campgrounds, sort of fulfilling a bucket list. The common denominator in all we've stayed at this summer has been deterioration of the facilities due to funding cuts for maintenance by the previous administration. Price park shows some of that, but also appears to be making a comeback. We camped in the upper section, deep in the woods, right across from a new bathroom facility. The downside was that it is the only one I could see on the upper section, and was quite busy. People using it had to walk quite a ways to get there and my advice would be to add another facility when possible. Employees I encountered were all very friendly and personable, the sites are clean and well maintained. Overall, a very nice visit.

Old style campground, clean bathrooms, hot showers, some private sites, some really close together. Hosts and rangers really pleasant by phone and in person. Lovely.
