The camp host met us upon arrival and offered us a better more accessible site than what we had reserved. This was greatly appreciated. The site was level and long enough for our toy hauler. The campground was clean. The host came around several times throughout the week to see if we needed anything. We had chosen this campground for its access to OHV riding. The only issue was being there over the 4th of July, people were shooting off fireworks inside the campground and per the Black Hills FS website, that is an illegal activity. But due to the remoteness, there is no law enforcement around. During our stay it rained for 2 days and yet our site did not show any signs of damage due to runoff.Upon departure, we had to drive around the full FF loop and the road was wide enough and tree limbs trimmed so our trailer did not scape or "fill" the road unlike some other national forest campgrounds. Should we return to the area, I would consider staying there again.

Close to Devils Tower where we were the first into the parking lot at sunrise. Water location is inconvenient unless lucky enough to be in a few accessible camp sites. Lots of surrounding deer. Campground initially midweek with only a couple of campers was quiet until the weekend. Campground started filling Friday afternoon, (assuming locals?), unruly kids until late. Kids then had us awake by 5AM. No discipline. Fortunately we were planning on moving on anyways.

This is a nice campground. The sites are well spaced out and very quiet. However, the logging trucks are noisy going up the hill in the ear)y morning. All the sites are treed. We didn't have a problem with bug either. The camp host was great and has a very cool cat that is a good ambassador and greets everyone. The toilets are clean and don't smell but no TP. So, bring your own. It was very hot when we were there. So, we ate dinner in Sundance at the Longhorn Saloon and Grill. The steak tips are great. If you are there you have to take a turn in the hardware/sporting goods store. There were things there that I have only been able to find on-line. A drive through Ranch A is a must and head up to Cement Ridge Lookout. We took a Dodge Ram long bed 4x4 and had no trouble on the main roads up to the lookout. It was dry. Not sure what rain does to those roads. The Black Hills are beautiful and worth the trip.
