It was an excellent campsite but without a water source nearby it makes it tough to camp two nights.

This campground is pure heaven. We loved it. Stayed for 4 nights.

The campground is clean and the ranger programs are fun and educational. The campground itself needs major tree trimming and maintenance. Like most older federal campgrounds, most of the spots are tight and meant for small camping units and tents. The Black Canyon itself is absolutely stunning and the fall colors of the Gambel Oak are beautiful.

Excellent site 019 in B loop. Area worked nicely for class B camper. I felt secluded in this spot with lots of shade. Site was pretty level. Area was very clean

We loved the Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP. The views and night sky are spectacular! We were a bit surprised, based on the many warnings about bears that we'd read, that there was no bear box when we arrived at our campsite. After reading all the instructions about being cautious with food and other scented items, we thought there'd be one, as we've experienced at other national parks. Also, when we drove through the other loops and saw boxes at each site, it seemed strange to us that there were none in the B loop. Since our pop-up camper has canvas sides, we were a bit anxious about that. We still had a wonderful time, though, and we appreciate all that's done to make our national parks great!

Well maintained campground with easy access to mile-long rim trail to the visitors center. Short drive to nearby town of Montrose.
