Overall a nice experience at Black Canyon. But, in the campground, if you have a big rig you will have trouble. Check the site sizes carefully when you book. We arrived during rain and the campsite was a muddy mess. We could not level the trailer as it just sank in the mud. The sites are dirt without gravel or pavement. If the sites had gravel or road base that would help in a situation like we ran into. Sites are small and very close together. Campers around us were courteous and quiet but we could hear larger groups with kids in the other loops. Not a bad experience but not the greatest either. It seems to be that the national parks were made for smaller cars and smaller rigs when they were built. The scenic drive was pleasant but missed about half of the pullout views because of lack of parking. Try in the shoulder seasons when kids are in school.

Nice basic campground. The electric hook up in our campsite did not work correctly. The 30 amp plug was not wired correct. We were able to use the 20 amp plug and got by for the two days we were there. The Black Canyon of the Gunnison was very cool!

30$ a car to get into a National Park is too much. We had two cars in our campsite and that was $60. I thought Nat Parks were for all Americans, not just the rich.

Canyon was amazing, must be seen in person to appreciate, pictures cannot capture the depth and scale. Campsites are well arranged, but fairly close together, and campers should be considerate to avoid lighting that destroys the beauty of a dark sky for others.

A unique campground as far as national parks go. Mostly primitive with pit toilets and limited water, but then inexplicably they have power hookups! If you have an RV or trailer, be sure to street view your site first as many don't have an adequate parking pad. Ours was nice and deep, more than adequate for our 23' travel trailer and 12 passenger van. Be aware that there are bears in the area (we saw one not a 1/4 mile from the campsite) and there are only a few bear boxes scattered throughout. The campground itself is scrubby brush and not terribly attractive, but it is a short walk from spectacular views of the canyon.

Wonderful! Must see the painted wall. I wish all the walk outs were marked with distance some are clearly marked others are not. Loved hiking at Warners point. Highway 50 construction requires special planning.

Very cool spot. We were totally happy being in the inner portion of the loop, but you might have a bit more privacy on the outer portion. There are so many trees and shrubs that it ends up not mattering too much. Either way, the facilities were fine, and the site itself was beautiful. Lots of space, nice fire pits, and we had no less than 5 mule deer walk through our site on each day of our stay. They were just grazing for a snack, but be careful not to get too close, especially if there is a calf!Overall, pretty sweet campground in close proximity to everything (just in case you want to be the first one to get a wilderness permit or setup shop for sunrise). If you have the chance, take the trail from the campground to the visitors center. Very cool!
