Black Canyon blew us away! Make sure you have enough time to see all of the overlooks and do some hiking. The biodiversity here was super interesting, in addition to all the geological features. We loved Dragon Point especially.

We liked the campsite. Even though there is not much space between each of them it still feels like you have enough privacy.

Camp sites are close together. There are sites with untrimmed dead wood and made it difficult to park. Enjoyed visitors center, very informative.

Much less used than other, more well know parks. Good hiking into the canyon, as well as several short hikes associated with overlooks and turnouts. Campsites typical, no dump station or water for campers. Park personnel helpful.

Besides the one RV that decided to keep its stupidly bright LED outdoor lights on until like 10:30p, in a DARK SKY PARK, everything else was fine. Spot A9 had more room than most other spots seemed to have. Pit toilets and no running water. A more rustic NP campground compared to others.

Never got to see the canyon. The tiny camping sites where infested with swarms of hornets. Couldnt cook or even sit outside without having hornets all over you. Website said dogs could hike trails if on leash but there was only 2 short trails you could take them on. My dog, my husband and myself all got stung by hornets.

Well kept campground... clean, stocked vault toilets (but only vault toilets), site was neat and fire pit was cleaned out. Water for bottle refills was close by, along with a dumpster for garbage. Rangers were good about stopping generator noises since they are not allowed. Great proximity to visitor center and hiking trails!

Had Site 3 in Loop A of the South Rim campground. Huge site - plenty of room for setting up sunshade, clothes line + camp table & chairs (with picnic table already in place). Plenty of room in bear box. We arrived in the late afternoon (early August) to the perfect cooling-off period & fantastic sunset. The sites are also nicely separated - other sites are nearby but you get some privacy via shrubs & trees. Heat is definitely an issue here - short, high-elevation trees don't provide a ton of shade but as I said, we arrived in the late afternoon so avoided the brunt of the heat. Bathrooms nearby - typical pit toilets but clean & potable water at the camp entrance. Even amidst limited services due to pandemic, plenty of ranger-led activities going on & ampitheater is super close. Would suggest you visit in Spring or Fall for optimal temps but if you're there in the summer, simply plan late AM through late afternoon activities and enjoy the fairly surreal geography of this fairly surreal place. Unique landscape and amazing views/sunset/sunrise.
