Great secluded camp site. I liked the separate space for the tent which was big enough for a 4 person tent (with room to spare). The bathrooms were about a 2 minute walk and were very clean and smelled fresh and even had hand sanitizer. There was potable water at the front of the loop road. Overall I would highly recommend site A13. There was no cell service for ATT or Tmobile at the camp site.

Steep climb on a paved road gets you to the campground. Foliage was about 8 feet high, no tall trees which was fine. Didn’t read the VERY fine print that said no generators allowed. I would have never picked a campground where I couldn’t use my generator! Because of that I only stayed one night instead of the two I reserved. Most sites are very short so do your diligence when picking one out! I don’t regret the stay though because the views of the canyon where magnificent!

We booked 2 nights for tent camping at the South Rim campground September 20th and 21st, 2022. Unfortunately, we were only able to stay the first night due to a big thunderstorm coming. The campsites were nice and spaced out with a lot of brush in between to block your site from the surrounding sites for privacy. Since we were tent camping, we had to use the vault toilets. The flies were pretty bad in the toilet areas but this is to be expected. There are no sinks to wash hands. We hiked the Gunnison route which was a tough route (you need a wilderness permit to do this hike) but very fun and a great workout. We drove the South Rim road to the overlook areas with the Painted Wall being our favorite.

I had site A13 and it was wonderful! Very private - I couldnt see my neighbors. Bathrooms were very clean. My only minor gripe is the location of the dumpsters and water.

Nice clean but basic CG. The dark skies are truely breathtaking.

This is a very beautiful park! The campsite wasn't my first choice and it was one of the few that were left for labor day weekend but it turned out all of the bushes that grow around the area make each campsite very private! You should definitely take a day to do the north rim, it will feel like you're not going the right way as you'll be driving through gravel roads in a country-like setting but I think the views were even better, and it's less populated so it's more peaceful. We planned on getting a permit for the Gunnison inner canyon route, but it being labor day weekend, by the time we got there at 7am, there were no more permits left so we did the Tomichi route, which was more of a 1 mile rock scramble than a trail by any means. Bears are around as we saw a black bear down by the dam one evening and he seemed unfortunately quite use to hand outs. Overall this is a wonderful park and we plan on coming back one day!

This was easily one of my best camping experiences of all time. The site was organized, clean, quiet, and very well-maintained. There was a nice, short hike with unbeatable views of the canyon right next to the campground. I appreciated the free nature talk given by the rangers as well. Highly recommended!
