We had a beautiful camp site here. It was set back from the road and tucked into the woods enough to feel secluded yet close enough to the restrooms to be convenient. Its near a trail that leads to the rim and visitor center. While we were eating dinner a deer came near the site and watched us for a few minutes. We did not offer her any food or move near her and she walked away quietly when she was ready. The campground has very little water and its hauled there from many miles away so they ask that you not wash your dishes there. Please plan accordingly.

This campground was a nice place to stay and wasnt too noisy or busy. It was a good bass for exploring the south rim and theres a hiking trail that connects the campground to the Visitor Center. There is water available in a couple places, but one isnt supposed to use it for bathing or dishwashing. It was a bit of a walk from C Loop to the garbage dumpsters.

Our family (3 kids- 5, 8, and 11) had a blast camping and hiking. This place was as mesmerizing as I had hoped it would be, and the night sky was as awesome as the daytime views of the canyon. We plan to return and go down the East Portal road next time. C-10 was a great campsite- not too close or too far from a couple of bathrooms, and at the periphery (but near the canyon and a road, so seemingly safe from bear frontier concerns). There were metal bear boxes@ at each site and a nice metal campfire ring - very convenient! We missed the twilight talk but checked out the nature amphitheater later that night (great place for star-gazing). There is a hiking trail to the visitor center (1 mile) but a quick hike part way there offers awesome views of the canyon. Great place!

The South Rim Campground was perfect! Obviously very well located in the beautiful Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP, but also a great, secluded site in the park as well. Perfect for a solo travler.

So much wildlife! We saw Red Tail Hawks, Wild Turkey, beautiful birds, small and medium rodentia, lizards, and were serenaded by coyotes each night! The hiking trail along the south rim leading to the visitor center is steps from the camping area and well worth the trek at different times of day/night!

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
