We had a mixed experience here. Upon arrival, some of the rules seemed to change, and we were told the place was owned by an individuallater we found out its actually owned by the National Forest and managed by a third-party company. At one point, we were scolded for having ATVs, but instead of speaking directly with an adult, the hosts chose to approach a teenager at 10 p.m. while he was climbing into his tent. It turned out they had been given incorrect information, and we werent actually breaking any rules. That said, by the end of our stay the host was very kind, and once it was clear we werent causing any problems, we were left alone to enjoy our time. My advice is to know the rules ahead of time, stand your ground politely, and things will usually work out.The area itself is absolutely beautiful Ive never seen more moose in my life! Trail 122 was a highlight; its a perfect beginner trail full of wildlife and great for ATVs, dirt bikes, small trucks, or Jeeps.

Campground was nice, but the whole reservation thing is a joke. Got to the site I had reserved and someone else was already set up. There was no reservation for me put on the post. Went over to talk to the Campgrounds host and asked why he hadn't reserved my spot and he replied that there were a bunch of cancelations so he wasn't bothering with putting up the reservations anymore. He offered a different site, which was nice but not the one we wanted. Also there was nothing posted on the campground about which sites are reserved and which ones are first come first serve.

Beautiful, alpine CG. Our site (6) was open which allowed our RV’s solar supported batteries to charge. We stayed 2 nights and explored the area by Jeep. Visiting and hiking to the National Historic Medicine Wheel nearby was really a treat and very much enjoyed!
Driving 14A was a spectacular drive, not to be missed. Steep climb and descent, both driven slowly but worth the effort. We drove our 25 foot RV with tow.
