Campground is more open, "family oriented"; sites are not very private, too close to each other, and with a weekend stay, neighbors were louder than we'd like. Not a "nature" campground, but a perfectly nice stay. Walked over to the hike at Blue Heron mining compound, and that hike is terrific.

A hidden GEM! Level, wide lots, play grounds, and a good price. All paved roads, if somewhat winding. Don't hesitate to book your site. Also, each site has a metal bear box for your food, if you are tent camping.

The campground was very quiet, even with kids playing on the playground and riding bicycles, the site was fairly level and looked out through the trees rather than into other campsites. 30 amp power was consistent even though everyones air conditioning was running full blast. A great experience.

Quiet not crowded large paved sites. Not much to do

Great little campground close to plenty of trails, we did some kid friendly (short distance - big payoff) hikes to some overlooks and a waterfall. We also enjoyed the Scenic Train ride from Stearns to Barthell Coal Camp. Only downside is there is no camp store so you have to go into Stearns to buy firewood, all in all, not a big deal. The only other thing I wish we'd known before we went is that the bookstore/gift shop/ranger station at Blue Heron Mine is only open on weekends until 4pm.

This quiet campground (at least when we were there) is well laid out and has everything you need (except sewer hookups). Being small, there is no bathroom wait and everything was clean.Don't count on the wifi unless you want to stand by the bathrooms. There is tons of great hiking right around the corner! But, bring all your supplies. There really isn't a store within roughly 20-30 minutes and limited selection at best.I would camp there again.

Wonderful campground. Bathhouse clean, little outdated, but definitely usable. Outside dishwashing area. Loved our site, very level and private. Easy walking to trails. Will definitely be back.

Very nice place just poor water pressure. We made do by filling up the fresh water tank in are camper.
