We love this campground. Many hiking trails within a 20 mile area.

This is our 6th year of camping at Blue Heron over the Labor Day weekend. Great campground! Small, peaceful, clean...just a great experience. The campground hosts (Robert & Jennie ??) were excellent. They did meet and greets with the campers and were just really good people. They went out of their way to keep things looking good. We stayed beyond the weekend after most campers had left for home and Robert was out with his leaf blower cleaning up the vacant sites.

Outstanding campground well taken care of by NPS employee Jack Perry and others. There are many trails and sight seeing opportunities nearby along with the river for which the park is named.

As always, we had a wonderful stay at Blue Heron. There were very few other campers that late in the season, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, hiking, relaxing and basking in the silence!

Sites were close but level. Restrooms were clean and the sink for dishes was a great addition since the warning of bears. Never did see and attendant.

A lovely, quiet, and dark place to stay. There were just a few other campers here, so we were able to sit in the middle of the loop and look at the stars. Clean bathrooms and showers.

Large sites situated in a quiet, treed location. Bathhouse is clean and we'll maintained. Nice location to visit points of interest and trail heads.
Blue Heron is an annual camping trip with family and friends. The campground is well kept and small enough to be really peaceful. Close to attractions like Cumberland Falls it also affords the opportunity for kayaking on the river. We reserve the same sites every year.

Mobile Data Speed Map

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
