We stayed here 2 nights in January. The weather was lovely with a breeze blowing which helped us not need to run our generator much. However, our next door neighbor ran his for 12 hrs each day which was a little annoying. There was an alligator in the lake, beautiful sunsets and clean bathhouse, although only with one shower. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Sites are grassy. Just across from the campground is a gravel road that is a "scenic loop". It's quite long but we took it and there were many alligators and birds on the far other end of it. Otherwise it wasn't very scenic. It's 30 minutes to Shark Valley where we did the bikeride to the observation tower which was really cool. If it's windy, I would advise not doing the bike ride - take the tram!

I had a great stay at Monument Lake! The host were great and the sites were clean. There is now water and showers available which is great! I plan on going back as soon as possible.

Loved staying at Monument Lake. The sunset on the lake was beautiful. Enjoyed watching the alligators. The shower was an added bonus.

Quiet Time is not long enough. This is a nice place to camp along Hwy. 41 in The Cypress National Preserve. Our only complaint is that the people next to us ran their generator constantly (even past the 10 p.m. cut off time, so they could continue to watch TV and it blew exhaust into the center of our campsite right at the picnic table. We went to Shark Valley. There we saw 68 gators, turtles and many birds as we rode our tandem bike the entire 14 mile trail one day and 8 miles of it two days later. Note: the 7 miles back are against the wind all the way, so remember that when doing all 14 miles. Arrive before 10 a.m. as not to wait in line.

Beautiful campground, but didn't expect to be overwhelmed by class A's and the din of generators at a primitive campground. At sunset everyone but us was in their motorhomes. We had the only campfire in the whole place.

Very nice campground. Plenty of room between sites. Note that website states no fire rings available but there was one on our site and the others around it.

Great experience overall and camp hosts are excellent. Big drawback was use of stinky, noisy generators too late into the evening and could not enjoy being outside at campsite at all during dinner time. Thought it would be much more restrictive with generator use and was hoping for much less noise and air pollution. Really enjoyed cruising through Loop Road, Oasis Visitor Center, Clyde Butcher Gallery and Chokolosskee.
