When we first arrived everything seemed fine. The campground host was professional, the park was clean. It wasnt until we setup that we discovered this campground was filled with RVs running their generators for hours on end. There was very little room between campsites as everyone there was lined up like cars in a used car lot. I will say it was very cold when we visited so I get why you might need to run a generator periodically but this was hours on end from 6 in the morning until 9 at night. Needless to say we bugged out after the first full day. I will say the park staff did a nice job helping us get a refund and we were able to salvage our trip by booking another campground using the Recreation . Gov website. All that just to see Alligators in the swamp. We wont be back.

Nice campground. The walk around the lake is approx. one mile. Great cell phone service but no antenna reception. No hookups available in the campground but water fill-up available near host's site. Dump station available at Midway campground about 5 miles east ( no charge) or at Volunteer Check Station about 5 miles west (no charge).ut no TV antenna receptikn

Lovely campground. Nice bath with hot showers - pretty clean, too! Only problem was rambunctious campers with SPOTLIGHTS and MUSIC going until midnight on Friday night. The camp hosts warned us there might be some shenanigans, but seems as if there was no monitoring of the situation after night fall. Not sure what could be done about it - - but those campers were pretty rude! I think a start might be to have folks park the way the sites are set up - so they can't hide behind a camper that is perpendicular to the campground road. ?? as a thought.

Nice campground right off route 41. All the RV sites are around the lake which provides a nice 3/4 mile walk to start your day. It was dry camping with no dump but water is available and a dump is 8 miles down the road at Midway campground. Cell service is 5 bars. Very nice campground. Very nice experience. We will go back!

This campground is awesome. It was very empty the few days before Thanksgiving and peaceful. The spots are spacious and the sunsets were perfect. The bathrooms are very clean with a large shower. Its a great distance between Everglades City and Shark Valley. Absolutely would stay here again

Weve been staying at this campground every year for the last 20 yrs. Never have we had any issues however, our recent stay was a bit of a hassle. To our surprise, when we got there, we were told we had to keep our cooler in our truck b/c of bears. Had we known this ahead of our stay, we wouldve planned differently. Our truck could not fit our large cooler & we use the bed of our truck as our tent as we have a topper on the bed. We had no choice to leave our cooler outside and we did not stay in the tent area (where apparently are bear proof lockers) as our preferred spots are by the lake. We were told we would be fined if we did leave our coolers out but the NPS needs to do better with communicating these new rules in advance not spring it upon people when they arrive. We will be reconsidering our stays at this campground going forward. Shame b/c the campground is beautiful, peaceful, and bathrooms are always clean and hot showers are always available.

The grounds & bathrooms are very nicely maintained. The hosts were pleasant & helpful. However, my experience was ruined by being sandwiched between two 40' + RVs that ran their generators from 8am to 10pm. Requiring earphones with the sounds of nature to enjoy sitting outside looking at the lake EXCEPT for the exhaust spewing from the RV on my right. The weather in February is very pleasant requiring heat not a/c so why? One gentleman said they like to run their fan,. When 'boondocking' we all require generator use from time to time to charge our batteries, even with solar, but this was excessive. Many parks have adapted a revision to their quiet hours to include a limit on generators. For example generators allowed from 8am to 10am and again at 8pm to 10pm. It would certainly improve the outdoor experience. thanks

I was in site 23. Peaceful and beautiful, level spot. Only there for one night and used my own facilities. After wandering on the loop ( I dont recommend that road) I was pleased to find this site so easy to park. RS Adventerous 22 feet.

This little lake is a awesome place to stop. No hookups, but they do have bathrooms (no showers). The lake is beautiful anytime of day, but when the sunset hits its gorgeous. We saw spoonbills (they are rare), and 1 or 2 gators in the water. There are several signs saying not to walk dogs, there were also signs to warn against bears and panthers. So, good to know...camphost Chris was awesome.
