Great location to Shark Valley Bike Trail, Marsh Trail, Big Cypress National Preserve Visitor Centers are must stops for guidance and maps for things to do. We loved the ranger led canoe trip.

Mostly empty campground which was great! There were just enough neighbors to enjoy and play with our kids. Restrooms were clean. So many activities to enjoy at Big Cypress and free canoeing and wet walks.

NOT CLEAR PARKING!!! You have to drive over the grass to your spot to park for tent camping. At night the fire rings are not visible. Long story short . . . I hit one with the front of my car and blew out the tire. My next-door tent neighbor also hit his car on a fire ring the night before. Monument Lake should either add a reflective coating to the fire rings or create paved parking areas so that this doesn't happen in the future. Bummer to spend $185 on a new tire on my vacation!

Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets on the lake. Clean bathroom, cell tower, quiet park and dark at night to witness the stars. Sites come in a variety of sizes. Hosts are great!

Great location within Big Cypress preserve. Clean bathrooms and shower, level tent sites that didn't form puddles despite lots of rain, quiet, and central location for area activities. Would definitely return!

Our Cub Scout pack had a terrific time tent camping at Monument Lake! The bathroom and dishwashing facilities were nearby, which made things easy for our first-time camping families. Thanks for being such a wonderful Camp host, Sheryl! The mosquitoes during the March astronomy program at Big Cypress were numerous and aggressive, so if youre planning on that one, go prepared with well-covered skin and plenty of spray. (Not a single buzz while at the campground, though.)

This is a cool campground. If you are arriving at night be aware that the site numbers are only posted on the picnic tables at the campsites. I arrived very late the first night of my stay and had a difficult time finding my campsite as the campground map was not showing up for me on rec.gov. The campground was very peaceful at night. It IS right off the state road so be aware that there will be moderate noise from road traffic. The one thing that really sucks about this campground is the fact that there is only one bathhouse for the entire campground, and the women's (I imagine the situation is the same for the men's) has only one shower for the ENTIRE campground. All of the tent sites, all of the RV sites, everything. So you could end up waiting an hour or more to take a shower. There are pit toilets on the other side of the loop but the main bathhouse is the only option with running water. Couple that with the fact that people like to take their dear sweet time and do their 20-step skincare routine without a care of how many people might be waiting to shower, and well... Due to this fact alone, I will probably try to avoid camping here again. There are gators in the lake obviously but leave them be and follow the rules and they won't be an issue. Another camper showed me a picture of a pigmy rattlesnake she saw walking around at dusk so keep an eye on the ground when you're walking around. I spent most of the time in flip-flops so just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine.

Loved our time here. January 2023. It was quiet, bathrooms were nice, and the weather was perfect. We stayed at 10, which had plenty of space and a view of the lake, and we had great AT&T service.

Seeing milkway in Florida is dream becoming true. Fantastic place! Restroom is very clean. The camp site is small and quiet at night. Bug is the only problem even in November. I brought thermacell with me, wearing long sleeves and pants, but bugs were fierce even at midnight. My neighbors had a lot of fun outside, It seemed they had bug spray and made big fire in fire pit . There was a satellite tower nearby, so cellphone had very strong signal. The one suggestion I would bring up to the preserve is pls dimming the restroom outside light. I was tent camper, I had to go to rv site to do stargazing.

Monument Lake was a great campground. The hosts were amazing and helpful, the site was large and had great views, centrally located to the major trails and attractions, and the stargazing was incredible.

I camped at Monument Lake for three nights. Very clean and quiet. Plenty of hot water for showers and well-maintained bath houses. Had to travel outside of park to find firewood. Plenty of alligator siting's and birds of all types. Enjoyed exploring and hiking on nearby trails. Excellent Verizon cell phone coverage.
