Quiet, low key campground. Rangers are great and facilities are clean

I've stayed here a few times. It's a great, peaceful little campground. It makes a good launching off point to explore Big Cypress. Definitely go to the Oasis Visitor Center and walk along the boardwalk. For a more immersive Big Cypress experience, do the swamp walk on the Gator Hook trail down the road. The water is knee deep in some places, so be prepared to get wet!

Campsite and facilities were excellent. We got to see the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch from our campsite. Hosts were very informative and helpful.

Beautiful site next to lake with a few alligators lounging on the banks. Bathrooms with water and showers are kept very clean. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. They recommended driving the Loop Road and we saw at least 100 Gators on the 22 mile trek. We will definitely stay at Monument Lake again next time we are in Florida if there is availability. Easy to see why it is popular.

We camped at site#1, which was very spacious. When we arrived, there was a gator sunning beside the lake, which was very disconcerting, but he kept to himself and chose other spots a little further away for the remainder of our trip. Our site was also excellent for afternoon stage on the awning side. We chose Buffalo Tiger airboat tours and were not disappointed. Visit all of the visitor centers and waypoints in Big Cypress for some great views! Our camp host was very helpful and informative, letting us know where to go and to go to Midway campground if we needed to dump and take on fresh water.

@LindaN4356506 · Camped on Jan 10, 2020 at Campsite #1
Very well maintained campground, clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, and beautiful lake complete with alligators, birds and other wildlife. My only complaint was people running generators and the road being so close.
