Well maintained grounds and bathrooms. Enjoyed ranger lead canoe and bicycle tours. Campground hosts were very helpful.

I booked on the phone at 10pm! I waited only 2 minutes to be connected to a specialist. Great job! The huge pluses are the campground has restrooms, low cost for those traveling by RV or tent. There is electricity and the grounds are very clean and well maintained. There was plenty to do at Big Cypress the next day, so would have stayed another night, but the route took us to another campground.

The hosts, Paul and Sarah, were lovely and gave us great recommendations about our stay. We were tent camping and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Midway is conveniently close to both the Oasis Visitor Center, where large gators and wading birds were numerous, and Shark Valley--a "must-see" in the Everglades. The downside is the NOISY highway that's not far enough away.

Tents are not required in tent camping area. Picture is not the tent area. People traveling stop in tent sites throughout the day. No one checks. Attempt was made to steal our bikes chained to pole about 5 AM. Gate not closed at night. Half mile circular loop of RVs. Friendliest campers ever. Made several good lifelong friends. Bathhouse clean. No showers. Swamp across road low water smell.

Nice, pleasant place in a neighborhood teeming with wildlife. Flooding is a problem when it rains.

I wish more NPS campgrounds would stay open during the summer. The Midway campground is not convenient to any shopping to replenish supplies. Still it is spacious, has great tent sites and was bug free in early June. I prefer to park my 12 foot trailer in tent sites since I do not need water or power connections. Well maintained. The grass is always cut and restrooms clean. Great hosts and volunteer staff in Big Cypress and the Everglades.

The camp host had coffee set up for folks in the morning, a place where you can drop off books and take one. And they also had some freebies that were left behind my other campers. I picked up several canisters of butane which paid for my night stay.

We had 4 families with 3 campsites and decided to park our cars at one site and pitch tents at the other 2. Sometime around 11pm 2 large diesel trucks came in on Friday night with their fan boats and stole our campsite (where we had parked our cars)and made loud noises till 2 am when I got up and asked them to please be quiet. The park host did nothing! In fact he came over Saturday morning and greeted them. I think I should get a refund but spoke to the next host in the afternoon who came on duty Saturday and he was unaware of the prior host giving the site away or occupants who had left by that point.

It was a good last minute decision for an unexpected cold Miami weekend. The host was OK didnt really provide much info other than pointing direction of our site. The bathrooms were small but clean with toilet paper and soap. No showers- in case you missed this side note. A few draw backs I didnt anticipate is how close you are to the other tent sites I mean really a cars length away. We could easily hear the other groups conversation at day and especially at night. Our fire pits rack was completely bent over so had to improvise to put any pots on it. Still think its a good choice for quick local tent weekend getaway. If you can pick site on edge you will get more privacy.

Solid facilities, a good central location for both Big Cypress and Everglades. I stayed in a tent site and the sites were a little small but they were flat and free of debris. Grass is way better than the gravel tent pads some places have. Really lovely camp hosts and a nice little lake in the middle of the campground to make it pretty.

We loved spending a few nights at Midway Campground. The hosts, Darrell and Peg were AWESOME! Note - there are no showers at this campground, so prepare accordingly. The site was perfect, flat, and just right for our tent. There is some road traffic, if you are near the front, but it wasn't bothersome for our family. Bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper and camp in a tent near the front.

The facilities are clean and well maintained. We liked not having cell service/Wifi, but that might not be the case for everyone. This location was perfect for us to be near our airboat tour location (Captain Jack's in Everglades City). The Big Cypress ranger station is just a few miles down the road. We had a great view of the night sky because of minimal lights on the ground. It was a perfect weekend getaway for us!

We highly recommend it, based on our experience. We also saw dozens of gators sunning themselves on the other side of the road/water (safe distance away) from the campground. There are several locations nearby to walk the boardwalks and view even more wildlife. Our kiddos loved it!

The park is VERY clean and well maintained. I have tent camped a few times now at Midway and they have nice shelter units. They have mowed just before my arrival each time so the grass is always nice, but wish they didn't blow the grass up onto the shelter units. You will need a broom to clean your area if tent camping. The tent area is also not in an ideal spot as they are right next to the RV dump station so all night you have non-registered RVs passing through getting water and dumping causing smells and noise. They need to create a better tent area towards the rear of the park, not across from the RV dump station and all the driving/foot traffic.

Its a very nice campground. The main drawback is the marginal cell service. Intermittent voice connection is available on Verizon but there is simply no usable internet,The other two campgrounds in Big Cypress do have usable cellular internet as well as reliable voice on Verizon
