What a fantastic campground! The camp hosts and maintenance crew were spot on, with cleanup and recommendations for fun. Loved Everglades City (old Florida for this old Fl native). Enjoy the peace and quiet and rare beauty of the Everglades.

Midway Campground in the Everglades facilities are clean and the landscaping is very well kept. The volunteer camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. Ed - Wheaton Illinois

Nice setting, spotless facilities, friendly staff. Tenting location is very close to US 41 and traffic noise continued most of every night making sleep sometimes a challenge. No pots and pans cleaning facility. No T-Mobile phone reception.

Clean, well maintained campground. This was a 1 night stopover on my way from Everglades to Miami to fish with my kayak. I read reviews that it was noisy from the road near by but it slowed down after 10 Pm and I had no issues getting to sleep. After 3 days in the Everglades with water we carried and a port-o-potty it was nice to have an actual bathroom that was impeccable. This would be a great site to be able to venture and visit other areas of Big Cypress. I also got a chance to visit Clyde Butcher gallery just down the street -Bonus!

We tent camped in the primitive area, mid March. No privacy and if you have trouble with loud neighbors it can be tough. Also, the campground is next to the road so the vehicles can get loud as they drive by. Mosquitos weren't too bad for us but they were there. A little bug spray was enough. Centrally located to all the parks, boat ramps, vistor's centers in the area's national parks. The hosts were nice and helpful, especially the maintenance guy. Fishing in the pond had a few bluegill, not much other than that. The canal across the street, had too many gators to fish. They kept chasing the topwater :) In the park, we saw cat birds, cardinals, fox squirrels, night herons, barred owls, lubber grasshoppers, and white eyed vireos. At night, the stars were beautiful. Would come on a new moon next time to really see some stars. Overall, a nice trip!

Camp host was very helpful and friendly. The area including restrooms were clean and well maintained. Cell service (Verizon) was weak a few times during the evening.

Great location. Very central to the activities available in the Everglades. We were able to easily get to Shark Valley and all the walking trails.

It is a good place to camp. The facilities are very well maintained. There are plenty of activities nearby to enjoy the BIg Cypress Preserve as well as the Shark Valley of Everglades National Park

Nice, quiet campground. Good spots for tent camping. Clean bathrooms. Potable water. Road noise from US-41 but other than that, no issues.

Don't pay stay free. No one checks and it's impossible to pay at site. So enjoy ur free stay and ignore park rangers they haven't any knowledge about the parks.

No showers; our mistake.

Spigot to wash dishes is low, attached to bathroom building , near rv dump station. Not ideal.

Situational, but camp ranger gave us wrong site due to same name as other camper. It all worked out, but still caused a temporary inconvenience to two parties.

You can rent kayaks and canoes at the nearby Skunk Ape. Nice boardwalk at nearby Kirby Sorter.

The campground itself seems most optimal for RVs, or as a road trip stopover, or as a place to stay while you do other things in the nearby area. There’s not much to do in the actual campground itself. There was a gator to see in the morning which was cool.

Campground is near main road so cars can be heard easily.

Just remember, No showers. And if you pick a spot with no cover, then there is no shade.

Bring extra tarps to cover your table (if not covered) at night due to heavy dew fall.

This was a wonderful, little campground with a gracious host and clean facilities. The two National Park Service visitor centers we visited were a short drive to the west, as was the Clyde Butcher Gallery and the Kirby Storter Boardwalk. This was great for a family camping trip, just be sure to buy your firewood (pest-treated) before you arrive as there is nowhere close to do so. We will definitely be back!

When we arrived at this campground there was no one to greet us or to show us to our site. When we finally found our site it was so small our 4 man tent wouldn't fit in it and the grass in the site was up to our knees. The fire pit had trash and old moldy food in it. We looked for staff or anyone at all the could help us and there was no one around. We checked a few other tent sites, each one has tall grass and trash in the fire pit. We left without staying the night because we couldn't stay do to the fact that our tent wouldn't fit. This campground needs to be taken better care of and there should at least one staff member on location at all times. What if there was an emergency? No phones on location, cell reception is spotty to non-existent. So if you stay here be prepared to be on your own, in a site made for a single man tent with grass up to your knees and trash in the fire pit.
