A great campground to spend a night or a week. The campground is small and cozy with all the campsites situated around a small pond. There is plenty to do in Big Cypress preserve or if you want to drive a bit further you can go to the Everglades from here. We used this as our base camp for a week and found plenty to do, drove the loop road and observed a lot of birds and alligators, took an airboat ride, biked shark valley, hiked in the Everglades, stopped by the visitor centers and took some ranger walks. I would definitely visit again when in the area. Also a great place to look at the stars since it is far from city lights.

I am from South Florida so this camsite for me is just a quick getaway and essentially...do nothing..ok read a book listen to music, meet fellow campers and essentially have some me time. I am there alone! If you want to fish walk across the road from the campsite, Careful for gators there. . It can also be daunting with traffic wizzing by! Most times you will catch Oscars which I have learnt are invasive and I have seen fishermen toss their catch across the street for the birds rather than returning them to the canal. I have only seen baby gators at the Midway lake. The sites on the west end will accomodate larger type campers unlike sites in the twenties which have low tree canopies. I particularly like sites 21-25 as they provide some shade. For campers wanting to tent I would go to Monument lake , just a few minutes west on US41 from Midway ( Keep in mind Monument Lake is seasonal unlike Midway) Reason is that they have toilets and showers. Also that campground is recessed in from the main road (US41) and is much quieter. Midway , unlike Monument lake has covered picnic areas . A great place to visit is the Oasis Visitors Center which is less than 5 minutes drive west of Midway. There is a catwalk there and lots of gator sightings. There aren't any showers at Midway ( I understand the park system is looking to upgrade, fingers crossed) and the restrooms are well kept. The only lights at nights are the lights from the restrooms. Three times around the campground is about a mile. My stay at Midway is usually in the months of Feb -Apr. Once the rainy season starts mid May onwards, the mosquitoes will eat you alive. I have stayed at Midway more than six times now and all the hosts( they are volunteers) , have been very nice. Towards the end of winter though, don't expext to see any.

Pretty nice little campground. Not too far from Everglades City which makes it convenient as a stopover. Bathrooms were clean and camp hosts very welcoming l. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice campground and super conveniently located if you're transiting through the state. Not too crowded and plenty of space between sites. Bathrooms are clean but no shower so best for a short stay if you don't have a rig. Lots of mosquitoes but that's to be expected in that area!

Always a great time at Midway campground, a perfect location to visit shark Valley. Almost every other day to go bike riding and to see the alligators. The facility is pristine though small. The staff the hosts and grounds people are always smiling., and eager to answer any questions. Shout out to Sharon and Colorado guy or to host.s

Very nice campground. Very clean and well maintained . I like that its a dark camp. Unfortunately it was cloudy and rainy while I was there. Plan to go back during better weather to view the night sky!

Great campground! The camp host was so pleasant and I loved that he went over all the rules vs handing out paper that just gets thrown away. Restrooms were clean as were all the sites. Sites were not huge but there was plenty of space and you didnt feel on top of each other. Dark Sky Certified and the stars were amazing. Great location for the Big Cypress Reserve. Highly recommend!

camp ground is nice, but has lots of road noise day and night. almost no phone coverage, and no internet at all. Also over priced when comparing to Ortona or Franklin

This is an excellent campground with all paved RV sites and a grassy tenting area.

Great little campsite! Easy sites and amenities. Star viewing would be awesome if not cloudy. Bring the bug spray.

Campsite was clean & well maintained. There was no camp host available. We wanted to leave a day early & were unable to notify anyone that our site would be available for someone else. We could not modify our stay on recreation.gov, and no one answered at the park phone number. There were quite a few sites marked as reserved that were unoccupied, probably due to the inability to cancel or modify reservations. The campground itself was nice, but the reservation system is flawed.

OK park but very small, no trails and nothing nearby. Forget about cell coverage. The site was very nice (even paved). There are some nice things a short drive away but nothing within walking or biking range. The bugs after sunset were crazy. No water at the sites and no showers.

This campground was way better in person than description and pictures showed! The view of the stars at night was amazing. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The campsite was clean and utilities were easy to use. We will definitely be back!

Peaceful spot..

This is a nice, small campground. Sites do not have water or sewer hookups, but have electric hookups. There is potable water available. There is a dump station available. It’s in a good location to explore Big Cypress. The mosquitoes and gnats are terrible at night. We did not have any problems with insects in the day time.

The limbs on the east side sites need trimming. We stayed in 2 different sites and had to get up on the roof to cut limbs.
