Very quite and night darkness was great for star gazing. Camp hosts were very cordial and informative. Only reason we did not give 5 stars was there are no showers, which would be helpful since no full hook up sites. Our campsite had good shade.

This is a small, clean, well-located campground, good for exploring Shark Valley in Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades City and Chokoloskee. Bathrooms were spotless, even though they got a lot of use, due to a combination of respectful campers and good staff. Lovely shade trees at many of the sites, some with air plants blooming. Camp staff are very helpful. Rangers come by to notify campers of programs happening at the CG. Electric hook-ups at each site and water fill station and dump station at the front of the campground. Showers can be had at Monument Lake CG, about 10 miles west. There are two drawbacks to this CG. First, there is virtually no connectivity. Nearest cell tower is 10 miles away at Monument Lake CG. We don't have a cell booster so that may give you service. Second, it's not great for dogs as there is a giant pond in the middle of the CG and you are warned to stay far away from it due to gators. Most of the grass is around that pond. You are also warned not to walk too close to the back edge of the park due to gators. We were there in the dry season so didn't see any in the park, and we did run our dog on the grassy area in the front of the campground gates but that's by the road so you can only do that if your dog is very obedient, which is ours is. But if you can overlook these two factors, and you are there to explore the area, this is a good choice. We camped at Big Cypress National Preserve, Midway Campground in a Motorhome.

Great campsite. Wish wed had longer to explore the visitors centres in the area.

Terrible place. No help in person or on the phone. Sewer drain under water. Potable water very sketchy. Mosquitos will carry you away in the sunshine. Only stayed one night and had to forfeit the rest of the reservation. Edit to Review: You can file a refund request on Recreation.gov after the reservation ends! I didnt expect to hear anything but just got notice of refund over a month later. Thank you!

When we arrived we were asked to move off the road to where the trash can is to unload our car. W suggest they just get a load of gravel in that area since its a mud hole when it rains. It is very difficult to see the park drive especially at night. You could use a better sign at the road maybe lighted also. Some grown men had remote cars going up and down the drive, it was annoying, but more so since dogs were going crazy.

Midway Campground is a wonderful Camping experience for someone who wants to escape the Northern Snow and experience relaxing camping during the Winter months. Lots of things are available for those who seek outdoor activities, especially seeing birds and alligators. Camp Hosts were all very helpful and the people who frequent this campground were very friendly. Pleasant 0.34 mile loop around the Lake was great for walking or bicycling.Added benefits include availability of WIFI and Public Showers for our campers at Monument Lake Campground (8 miles away). Hope to return again next year.

Host that checked us in did a thorough job of advising us of the rules regarding our stay. During our stay we were impressed with his on duty vigilance in controlling prohibited traffic in to the park. We also noticed his daily walk thru the park picking up trash.

It is a nice little campground in the Everglades - very close to the Oasis visitor center. Not much to do at the campground though - there is a little lake in the center with campsites all around. There was no electricity or water when we got there although it was restored later in the evening, thankfully. It was nice and quiet, although very close to US41, road noises were barely audible from inside the vehicle. Every site has its own firepit and picnic bench, and ample space for a decent size RV. Lots of bugs as expected. The bathroom was decently clean - there is no shower though. All in all a pretty decent place to spend a night or two - but not much more than that.

We booked site 23 at Midway for a Friday night because we were taking an overnight break to get an early start for our Tampa to Key West drive. I thought it would be fun to see an alligator and maybe do some stargazing. Our problems started before we even got to the campground. I couldn't find a local phone number for Midway campground anywhere (emails from Recreation.gov, website, Google) to call and ask about late check-in. My wife finally found a number for a neighboring campground and they didn't know either. When we arrived at about 5PM, there was no gate, security, etc. We arrived in a thunderstorm so everything was pretty wet and still raining hard. One of the campers on the West side of the one-way loop left his truck hooked up to their travel trailer which completely blocked the road. We waited for about 10 minutes and watched them peeking out their windows at us until I realized they were parked for the night and not going to move. I reluctantly drove around them on the grass to get to my site. Once at the site I was eaten alive by mosquitoes, which is the norm in the Glades. Cover up and bug spray are a must here. The electric hookup was horrible. The 30 AMP kept shorting and power would cut out throughout the evening. I got the power to stabilize until about 6AM. By then, the box got so hot I unplugged. We ate a quick breakfast and headed down the road. We did see an alligator in the pond in the middle of the loop so watch your pets. Thanks to the cloud cover there were no stars to see. There were plenty of characters staying here with colorful language and manners too. We did not see any rangers or law enforcement/security. This site almost seemed like you could come and stay without a reservation and no one would notice. My biggest concern was the seemingly lack of communication here. A local ranger number on the confirmation email would have solved all my issues, like moving to another site with good 30AMP.

We loved this campground located centrally in Big Cypress a very short distance from the Oasis Visitor Center and Monroe Station Loop Road. We camped at Midway in a 38 foot motorhome with a tow vehicle and had plenty of space. We had an electric hookup, picnic table and fire ring. The campground is not lathe and has a nice pond in the middle. We did not see any alligators during our short two night stay but certainly saw plenty along our travels on Route 41. We found that gasoline was about 20 miles away and grocery stores further so bring what you need is the easiest solution.

Our experience at Midway was good. The sites are separated from each other "comfortably". The sites have electric and water and the restrooms were clean with hot showers. The paddling and hiking trails are easy to reach from this centrally located campground.
