The site we were given (Site #090 on Loop 7) should not be given to anyone with an RV it should be a tent site only. The mention of low hanging branches was not accurate. Several very large branches were 2'-3' off the ground and spanned across over 1/2 of the site. No RV could get to the pad. We angle parked and were barely off the road with our slide out. We had to make several tries to get in enough. Thankfully we are only 24' long. anything longer could not have fit. there were many empty sites that would have been preferable but we were told that no other sites were available. The sites were all clean and all facilities were well maintained and the staff was friendly even though they were not being paid.

The Rio Grande Village campground was very nice. It is however a long distance from some of the interesting sites

The night sky was absolutely beautiful and we were close enough/far away enough from bathrooms and trash. The group near us was very loud all night but that didnt stop us from enjoying our time.

We stayed in Sites 85 and 66 which were sites that worked with our Newmar Baystar 30 foot Class A motor home. Both sides allowed room for the three slides to be deployed and for our Starlink satellite dish to have a clear view of the sky. Originally I had Site 90 booked for a couple of nights but when we checked it out, it had tree branches that would have made it difficult to park our motor home. Luckily we were able to move to Site 66 which worked great for us. Thanks to the campground hosts for helping us resolve this problem.

Very easy camping for being in the desert. Lots to do and see nearby. Watch out for little thorny plants and cow pies in the tent camping grassy areas.

Beautiful National Park. We truly enjoyed the three days, we spent exploring the area. Definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to enjoy Big Bend. Most of the roads are gravel and rough. If you are staying at the Rio Grand Village campground, the pictures online do not truly show what the site looks like. The site we originally had stated it could accommodate a 45' RV (length was 50') but what the picture didnt show was the large tree in the middle to the site. The Camp Hosts were wonderful and they were able to relocate us to a site that would work. Also, when making a reservation make sure you pay attention to which section your site is located. Rio Grand Village has a "no generator" area. And in the generator area, you are only allowed to run your generator from 8a-8p. I wish they would make exceptions to extreme weather conditions - such as lows in the teens, snow and heavy frost. You also need to be aware that there is little to no cell service. You are definitely off-grid.

I had a good time. I was tent camping surrounded by RVs. Still it was quiet and the campground has good separation. It was windy and cold, so not a lot of outside time. I had to put the stove in a spackle bucket so it was out of the wind. That worked great. Pot pliers and leather gloves were handy. Basically used the site just for sleeping and two meals a day as I was out and about during the day. This campground is at the east end of the Park so plan on a lot of driving to get places. Santa Elena canyon is far, probably around 70 miles. BTW, don't miss the canyon, you get to wade part way across the Rio Grand to continue on the trail. Three nights were good fun and gave three full days in the Park. Long drive home after with lots of coffee.

We stayed at site 90 on Loop 7 in a 21' travel trailer. The site itself was plenty big, but the trees need trimmed and made it difficult to fit the trailer on the site.

Full hooks would be better. Please cut trees that block rv access to sites.

Rio Grande village was a great place to stay. The short hike from site 18, we saw a green herring, turtles and fish. You can see the village of Boquillas and a good view of the campground. Its a short drive to see Boquillias if you have passports, the trip across the river on a rowboat and riding a donkey into the village was a novelty we enjoyed. The hot springs was great. Too many things to mention. 5 nights, we got to drive the paved roads, easy hikes. Drove as far as Terlingua.

The generators ruined our stay. We left two days earlier than planned, because the motor home next to us ran their generator continually! We could not sit outside to enjoy our evening. It was so noisy!

Park is beautiful and huge. Better than the pictures we had seen. Its worth the drive to get there and you will also need a car in the park because of its size. We stayed in Rio Grande Village Campground with no hook ups in a 42 motorhome. Roads were easy to navigate, sites decent size and fairly level. Our first site had some overhead branches to negotiate around, second site I would call half a pull thru. It was full every night we were there. There were some park signs that made no sense and left us feeling unsure but not a big deal. Dump station, gas/diesel station and WiFi all available and easy to manage. All the hiking we did was awesome, especially the Santa Elena Canyon. The hot spring is not very large and fills quickly. The crossing into Mexico was a fun experience. If you go, bring cash. The town of 250 or so survives on our generosity. The crossing is closed on Mon and Tues during the winter.

Big Bend National Park is H-U-G-E and you have to plan travel time to go from A to B. While we are staying at a commercial RV park in Lajitas because we prefer having FHU & 50A, this location is not very convenient to visit Big Bend because it means having to drive about 90 minutes each way. So we decided early on that we would try to book a stay in Rio Grande Village. We reserved about 4 months prior to our visit and got a site in the generator use allowed section. 5 nights was all we could get. The campground is very popular. As long as we can run the generator for a couple of hours each day, we are good for about 7-8 days with our fresh/black/gray water tanks. Rio Grande Village Campground is pretty. The sites are close to each other but leave enough room to not sit on top of your neighbor. The most important thing is, that you are close to many hiking trails and the Rio Grande. The best part of our stay was going across into Mexico at the Boquillas Crossing, just a couple of miles outside of the campground. you MUST have a passport to visit and reenter! DO NOT be afraid to visit Mexico. The people are very friendly and it is quite an experience to cross the Rio Grande by rowboat and going into the village by donkey, horse or pickup truck. The food is excellent at Jose Falcon (margaritas, too ... :-) ...) - You cand walk the 1/2 mile into the village but riding a donkey is much more fun. You also get a knowledgeable guide who will tell and show you everything there is to know. TIP WELL because that is how they make a living! Please invite your guide to have lunch with you, too! Show your good side and spend the few extra bucks! We went twice over 2 days and had a grand time.

Campgrounds were clean. Not too noisy. Nice that there's a "no generator" section. Close to lots of the stuff we were interested in seeing. Rangers & other staff were very friendly.
