Rangers on site were very helpful, campground was very tent friendly, nature trail was an amazing surprise and experience. Appreciate the work the volunteers are doing. Only issues were being told on the phone we could get backcountry permits for both the Park and the Ranch at the same location, which wasnt correct. Panther Junction also took an hour to get through the lines. Why cant one get a permit and pay everything in one line, instead of going to the back of the next line after getting the permit to then pay? Why not train the cashier to also either collect payments or make permits?

Experiencing Big Bend was a lifetime goal. I'm grateful to those who established and now care for this unique part of Texas.The majestic scenery was all I had hoped.The staff at Panther Junction seemed utterly overwhelmed.Perhaps the staff including volunteers could have training in both completing permits and collecting entrance fees. One clerk kept telling people he could not help them because he only sells books. I was bounced from line to line 5 separate times. For very near a full hour. 8:25AM-9:20AM

Arrived at the park and our composite was clean and well kept and marked for us. Shortly after we arrived a couple of the park ranger volunteers came by and checked with us to make sure we were ok. They answered a few questions I had about the park and trails. Later an official ranger came through and educated some young campers about the rules. The park cattle and horses meandered through the grounds keeping the grass low and my girls loved seeing them up close. We had some excitement when the pack of coyotes ran through the camp at around 4 am yelping and howling. They didnt bother anyone and the animals ignored them so we never felt concerned for our safety.

BRAVO for the recycle options. The best we have seen over the last yr on the road. Plenty of critters in the campground javalenas, cows and horses. We will be back in the future.

Enjoyed the spacious RV spots (for 26 ft.) and ability to use our generator for certain hours. Having a dump and water station that was not crowded was beneficial. The camping rangers were all nice and helpful. The access to great trails nearby was enjoyable too, such as the nature trail and canyon trail. In addition, we appreciated access to a store and visitor center for WIFI reception. Not having cell reception was a little challenging.

Its time to run electricity out to the rest of the RV campsites, you guys are 25 years behind. The full hook up site is awful. Walmart Parking lot is better.

The camp was very clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were really nice! The dark sky rules were also nice so you could really see the stars at night. You can also walk from camp to the nature trail where you can see a lot of birds, lizards, and different kinds of rocks. Its a short hike but its very pretty!

Dogs are allowed at the park but I wouldn't call it pet friendly. There are some people with pets I would suggest a dog park so they can blow off some steam off a leash.

The campground was quiet despite how open the space is across the sites. Big Bend is BIG. So it is nice that there are a few hikes close to RIO GRANDE VILLAGE. Both the Nature Trail and the Boquillas Canyon Trail are nearby. A bummer they don't have showers but restrooms were clean. Wind had taken out the power at the store during our stay. On the plus side, the wind cleared away the clouds for a perfectly, dark night sky. Enjoy!

A hidden gem, the park and all it has to offer in regard to all of the different geological variations and beauty is unsurpassed.
The trails were well marked and maintained and all of the workers both volunteers and rangers were more than helpful and friendly.
I had the opportunity to paddle up into Santa Elena Canyon and that was an incredible experience.

Thanks, and keep up the good work, let's not tell a bunch of peopole about this park!

The campground was clean, the bathrooms were clean, and the camphosts were excellent. We did the Boquillas Canyon Trail, and then the crossing into the town, in Mexico, for lunch. Later we took the Hot Springs trail and relaxed in the hisorical spring ruins. Our trip to Big Bend was amazing, we did ALL of the areas of the park and was not disappointed at all!

If you have a class A or a fifth wheel, be careful here. A number of sites are long enough for big rigs, but they have overhanging branches that will not accommodate anything taller than an average travel trailer. Luckily the very helpful camp host had an available backup site we could use. The campground is lovely though.
@MichaelD829846 · Camped on Nov 15, 2019 at Campsite #89
The branches at some of the sites were very low, we barely made it in and we have a travel trailer. The trip into Mexico was okay but I wouldn't do it again.
