This is a great campground--well attended and clean. The wonderful nature trail leading to a small ridge overlooking the Rio Grande is spectacular, especially at sunrise and sunset. There's tons of wildlife to watch. Sites had either shade structures or cottonwood and mesquite trees for shade, which you need because it was in the 90s even in mid October (about 10 degrees warmer than the weather app prediction, which might be for the Park Headquarters in the Chisos Mountains). The campers were all considerate of the Dark Sky designation, keeping evening lighting to a minimum so the stargazing was fabulous! We stayed 6 nights and loved our time there.

Although we had a short, overnight stay, we had a fabulous time. The trail to the overlook and Rio Grande are short and relatively easy, and the views are well worth it. Be prepared for lots of biting insects- cover as much of your skin as possible with clothes and use lots of bug spray- even so, expect some bites. Also be aware that wildlife is very active in this campground; we saw several javelina and were kept awake most of the night by wild horses (we didnt mind that too much- it was a very cool experience). The night sky is unbeatable.

Spacious campsites and many with good shade. Lots of animals to spot; everything from deer and javelinas to vermillion flycatchers and cicadas. However, the unfenced and adjacent ranch land means there is lots of donkey, horse, and cow manure all over the campground - and there was plenty at our site. Donkeys roamed the campground for several hours one night and two were wearing bells, so between the clanging and the braying of the donkeys, it wasnt terribly restful.Village store is well stocked, has working WiFi, and the store/gas station is the only place in the park where you can add air to your tires.

Very quiet and peaceful campground, just a stones throw from the Rio Grande. Plenty of space between campsites. Folks were very observant about shutting off generators at quiet hour. Appreciated the proximity to the convenience store and showers. Unexpected pluses included a roaming pack of javelinas and illegally immigrated horses, donkeys, and cows :-). And tons of birds.

The campground was very close to Boquillas Canyon and the Hot Springs. We did both hikes and they were beautiful. We also enjoyed the nature walk from the campground. We did not cross the border but I heard good things about it. I wish we would have stayed at Chisos Basin as it was more centrally located but we were still able to explore the whole park. I highly recommend the Window Trail.

The standard for no generator hours at all National parks nationwide is limiting them from being used from 10pm till 6pm. This park has gone far beyond to limiting their use between 8pm till 8 am even though their is a designated zone for non generator camping. This is too restrictive. 10pm till 6 am is what it should be as that is the quiet hours. Even starting the engine in your very quiet engine motorhome at 7:30am will result in your being told to turn it off. Total nonsense and lack of good judgment on the part of the park hosts and law enforcement.

Great location for several hikes at Big Bend National Park. Close to the river. Facilities were good. Lots of supplies at the village store where there was also WiFi when needed.

A river trip to the Hot Springs is a must! It is also a short drive to the Boquillas Canyon trail (1.4mi). It is a beautiful canyon to experience. The sunset views from the nature trail at the campground is spectacular!

While we were there, the grassy parts of the campground were flooded daily for irrigation purposes. People who had tents were hard pressed to find a place to set up. There were many gnat-like insects, possibly due to all the water. They were pesky but even worse, we found out the first night they were biting. We were covered in highly itchy bites. Its been over a week and Im still itching. Take your itch cream!! Otherwise it was a beautiful campground and we had a great time.

The Rio Grande Village CG is a dry camping experience w/ample bathrooms & drinking water spigots available. We have camped here numerous times and enjoy the atmosphere with javelina roaming around and the big cottonwood trees. In the past there have been more Ranger led bird watching and hike experiences led from the campground. With cuts to the NPS budgets there aren't as many Rangers available for some of these experiences. I did enjoy two Ranger talks in the evening. The RGV store nearby offers wifi, some food & drinks.

The campsites are spacious, the stars at night are awesome, and most campers have their lights out by 9pm or so, so you can really enjoy the night sky.The campsights clearly all have new posts (can still see dirt from having put in the posts) that show reserved or free, and dates, which are updated every day.Very clean. The one night we accidentally left our trash out instead of bringing it to a bear-proof container, an animal got into our trash and created a mess we needed to clean up. Don't leave any food or trash out!Try to get the "non-generator" site if you don't have a generator. Even though they are required to be off at night, some people have loud ones. But that is only relative to the overall quiet.

Absolutely beautiful campground. There is a nature trail that starts inside the campground. Easy access to the Rio Grande River. You can take chairs on a short hike and set up for some nice quiet fishing :-)
