Great campground. Park representative very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Originally hesitant about location at one end of park, but, in the end, the location actually worked out perfectly for my wife and me. Would easily and readily recommend to anyone. Definitely recommend the Boquilas (SP?) canyon hike and the Borillas (SP?) border crossing.

I cannot believe I waited this long to visit Big Bend National Park. The park is gorgeous, with so many different opportunites for hiking, birding, and enjoying nature and the scenery. The Rio Grande Village camp site was excellent: easy to find, easy to find our spot (labeled daily with your initials), clean bathrooms with running water and a place to wash dishes, easy access to trails. The Village store showers were easy to use ($2 for 5 minutes, quarters available at the camp store). Everyone was friendly and respectful (employees, volunteers, and visitors) and you just can't beat the views. There is internet at the centers and stores, so you're not totally offgrid. Bring your passport if you want to offically go into Mexico (and not just hop stones across the Rio Grande). I live in rural Texas, and the recycling was better at the park than at my house, plus I love that the each campsite provided a safe place to store your food from wildlife like bears (we did not see any).

Campground was well cared for with all amenities available. Pleased to find out there were no vault toilets and ample fresh water available.

Information regarding what to expect & what we found did not match. Of particular note was the inability to use US currency for purchases within the park, yet both showers & laundry required US currency to use? That's really messed up.Camp hosts were very friendly & accommodating with me (I'm 75) but were rude and very short with my son (he's 51) showing a distinct bias that was difficult to understand. All National Park Rangers we encountered were both friendly and courteous. While all the visitor centers were clean & well maintained, the restrooms clearly needed attention, both for cleanliness, but especially maintenance; they were run down & poorly lit. There really was no excuse for those poor conditions; they weren't over-used by campers & clearly have not had any budget allocated to keeping those facilities anywhere near the level of the visitor centers.

Nice, level camp site. Quiet at night with very dark skies. Adequate bathrooms and dump / fill station. Nice location with nearby scenic views.

It was hot, 100 degrees. Be prepared. We were in the generator ok area. Glad we had that. Like most national parks, they are not dog friendly. Don't go if you take your dogs . They are only allowed where vehicles can go. It is. Ridiculous that they can't designate afew areas and trails where you can walk with dogs. Won't go back.
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
